Default I need a great gift idea for new baby!

    Hey all,

A friend from work just had a baby (ok, so his wife did all the work). They have tons of friends and family so they've already gotten anything and everything they could ever want or need. So I'm trying to come up with something unique, but not too costly. Maybe in the $25-30 range. Anyone have any ideas?

    TIA!

Some type of food that can be delivered.

Diapers (believe or not, people never get enough)

    Wipes (same as above)

    Savings bond for the baby

An evening of babysitting so that they can be by themselves for a few hours. DH and I love getting sometime to the two of us even if we use it to do the laundry and dishes (our swing is great)

Well, this isn't exactly a unique gift, but I must say that I absolutely love the Lamaze Play and Grow toys. I bought Freddie the Firefly after seeing several other babies play with other toys in the series. They are about $10-12.

I also think the Link Along Friends. They are a great small size that is easy to carry along with us and they have features that make the Play and Grow toys so fun.

Diapers are a good suggestion too...though in our case we got more size 1 diapers than we used with DS (we had a big shower where every guest was encouraged to bring diapering supplies), so I'd suggest getting bigger sizes and/or wipes (though I suspect we're fairly unique there).

Actually, how about something that gets used a little later on...like utensils, food storage containers, sippy cups for when the baby starts solids? or a fabric shopping cart cover?

Another great book idea (also found at BRU)...

Perhaps you can get the book along with a toy?

Or you could get a few good children's CDs. Here is one that is totally fun...

My mother gave me a CD from www.justmemusic.com that is SO adorable. It has DD's name in the songs, and she loves to sing and clap along, especially now that she's older. We had so many things for her as an infant, but this is great for an older baby, too.

Gift card to a picture place. Baby pictures can get expensive.
