Wanted to update that the memorial went well. A couple of my childhood friends came which was so sweet. The pastor read sections out of my dad's journals, which was surprising (I didn't even know he had them) and emotional. Gave me lots to think about later. Kids did well (youngest fell asleep) and everyone said it was a great service. My mom is doing well, will probably come out to visit in a month or so. PS if she remarries I will lose my sh*t. That is all.

Thank you again everyone for your kind thoughts. This thread has been so helpful to me the last year (or two?). I've really appreciated your advice and BTDT stories.

    How is everyone else doing?

Honey, that sounds like a very lovely and personal service. You have done such a wonderful job getting through these last couple of months.

I'm at t-minus 3.5 weeks until my trip to NH to work on emptying my dad's house. I'm so excited to see my brother, and my in-laws are super excited to see the kids and have planned all sorts of activities and outings to do with them. I am totally not thinking about how hard the rest is going to be.

Good luck semily! I'm glad you'll have your family there with you.

Today we finished moving furniture into my mom's house. What a process this has been. Now for the unpacking part! We still have a storage container with a ton of stuff in it that she wants to sell.
