I stopped by Target today and they have frames I like for $99 and kids' lenses are on sale for $25. Plus, I'm assuming I can use my RedCard for another 5% off. DS will be eligible for discounted frames in January, and maybe lenses, but I don't want to wait that long since he'll be playing soccer before then. As my DH said, yay genetics!

You definitely can use your Red Card. They also have their own plan that they offer (cannot think of the name right now) and will figure out which is cheaper-their plan or your insurance.

Sadly, we're out of insurance benefits for awhile. First time glasses for DD in July and replacement glasses for DS yesterday when his got broken used it all up.

Scarlett - can you see if you can purchase a warranty on the frames for loss/damaged? When my oldest was younger I would always purchase that. We were on a roller coaster once and they flew off & we had no backups. A call to the eyeglass place & I was able to get them really quickly! (Poor kid wanted to just go home since amusement parks are no fun when you can't see!)

scarlett - those are sounds like what we got DS but since we went with transition lenses the whole thing cost more. We also did purchase the warranty through target since they will replace under any conditions except for if the kids loses them. DS has only been wearing glasses since last January but we are already on the second pair.

We purchased the warranty plan on the replacement glasses I had to buy DS yesterday, but didn't for the sports glasses we got today.

I am ashamed to admit how much we spend on my kids' glasses!

My son got glasses back in December and I feel like I wasted my money because I can count on the one hand the number of times he's worn them.
