Megande - I was thinking about your build-up problem, and I have heard that some people put their diapers and inserts in the dishwasher. Cover up the jet-dry hole (if you have one) and run it on the hottest setting. I have never tried it, but I have heard it will work! Good luck!

stripping in the dishwasher I've heard people who have had great success doing this but please be aware this can be really dangerous.

I noticed a lot of the regular velour ones are stocked too--the ones that are just plain with color serging/snaps.

AAuugghh!!! I am SO TEMPTED! Plus, I love their wetbags--have held up so much better than my WAHMies wet bags...

Looks like she's clearing out the matching shirts too. They're really cute... I can vouch for those firsthand.

Default Help with newborn CD stash

Hi ladies - I am expecting any day now and wondered if you would just help evaluate my stash & let me know if I need anything else or should consider anything else right now. TIA!!!

    IPFs:
    • 12 - preemie size (~13x10 b/f I washed)
    • 20 - infant size (~16x12 b/f washing)

    Others:
    • 6 Kissaluv Size 0
    • 2 Kissaluv Size 1
    • 7 BG 3.0
    • 3 Goodmammas

    Covers:
    • 5 Thirsties NB size
    • 3 assorted Bummis NB size
    • 2 Imse Vimse NB size
    • 3 Thirsties Size S
    • 2 Bummis Size S
    • 1 wool soaker (I'm making, approx size S)

I also have some cloth wipes. I am mostly considering getting more preemie size IPFs at this time & more wipes. Do you think this is necessary or will be helpful? Thank you ladies!

How exciting! I think your stash looks pretty good. Re: preemie pfs: I make big babies. My son was 8 lb. 10 oz. and 21" at birth. So he only used his infant prefolds for about 7 weeks (I can only imagine preemie would have been maybe 2 wk., b/c I only folded down, then in thirds for maybe 2 wk.! ha). But, now I have wonderful doublers for the rest of his time in cloth! Oh, and as you're doing your dirty dipes, start throwing in your infant PFs to prep them. I boiled my newborn PFs, but threw my premiums in the wash before I actually needed them, to save that boil step (and minimize washing just perfectly clean dipes).

Let us know how that wool soaker goes.

I got my hemp inserts (Joey Bunz) and I just want to make sure I am doing this right. I washed them in the washer, with detergent, on hot, 3 times. I also washed them in the sink once (and kind of let them soak in the hot water and detergent). I also boiled them (kind of as a rinse for the sink wash) for about 5-10 min. I read that they may not reach "full absorbency" for a few more washes, should I go ahead and use them at night now? Is it safe to wash them with my regular dipes (BGs) from here on out?

    TIA!

Anyone else care to analyze another NB stash? I think I overbought on some stuff - quite a bit of it was homemade or leftover from my DS. My DS was over 8 pounds, so I am not expecting a peanut.

    XS-NB
    2 Thirsties covers
    2 IV covers
2 made by me fleece pants
    2 knit by me longies
    2 nanipoos (with umbilical scoop)
5 made by me t-shirt fitteds (from the free DD pattern) from all recycled materials
7 made by me pocket fitteds (RRP & DD pattern) - all recycled materials

    Small
    3 Thirsties AIO's
    2 WAHM AIO's

    OS Fitteds
    4 Goodmama's
2 Mutt 3SR's (plus my son has 2)
    2 Bamboozle's (size 2)

    Flats/Prefolds/Others
1 doz old green edge (replaced by periwinkle) GMD
    1 doz yellow edge GMD
1 doz Little Lions Infant PF's
3 Lapis Leine Bamboo Flats - Infant sized
    2 small SBish flats
    10 Disana Tie Dipes

    Medium
    2 IV covers
    2 Homemade pockets
    1 Homemade fitted
    1 Homemade pocket fitted

    OS Pockets
    7 BG 2.0's
    3 Mommy's Touch Easy Clean
    6 Haute Pockets
2 P'tit Dessous (how I WISH I had more of these - I got these in France)
    1 PT FB

    Random/Accessories
    4 Snappi's (plus my toddler has 2)
    4 Hemp/Fleece doublers
    3 doz GAD's wipes
    3 wetbags
    assorted inserts

I know I need some liners, and I was planning to cut up some old t-shirts to use as liners for the meconium stage. I think I overbought on the PF's - so should I sell the LL and start collecting some for the larger size? Or make sure I really want to use PF's? Anything else I am missing?

ETA: I also have a pair of Disana overalls, 2 small butt sweaters, and another pair of small longies on the way. I have another pair of small longies on my needles, and hope to get at least 2 more pair done before she arrives. I was planning to use mainly prefolds and wool/fleece that doubles as clothing for the first couple of months, that way I don't have to worry about fitting clothes over a diaper butt.
