I agree with a lot posted here and I have some others, but one song that works wonders every time is:

    U2- Vertigo

I dare you to not go faster on the eliptical with this!! I also have some of the following:

Motley Crue (I know, but it's good)
    Van Halen
    Will Smith
    Britney
    Other U2 music

I also have books and languages on my iPod. I'm learning German now!
Sugar & Spice, and everything TWICE

currently i have mostly hip-hop -- ludacris, 50 cent, tupac, ja-rule, etc. at the end of my mix, i have a few random non-hip-hop songs that get me going: everclear's "heroin girl", weezer's "my name is jonas," smashing pumpkin's "hello kitty kat," paul oakenfold's "starry eyed surprise," and third eye blind's "blinded". it all gets me through my runs, even when i don't really want to be running

i also have a "folder" on my mp3 player full of dave matthews -- every now and then i listen to dmb on the elliptical at the gym, especially when i'm going for a super-long workout and am not interested in breaking any elliptical world records or anything.

I Try to change my mix often because I get bored easily.

    Today's mix (48.7 minutes):
    Sweetest Thing--U2
    Jumpin' Jumpin'--Destiny's Child
    100% Pure Love--Crystal Waters
    Groove is in the Heart--Deee-Lite
    A View to a Kill--Duran Duran
Shake Your Groove Thing--Peaches & Herb
What I Like About You--The Romantics
    We Got the Beat--Go-Gos
    Sunday Morning--No Doubt
Are You Gonna Go My Way?--Lenny Kravitz
    Strangelove--Depeche Mode
    Back to Life--Soul ll Soul
    Desert Rose--Sting

It looks weird, but it works for the interval training I do on the treadmill.

I loooove being on the elliptical to "Cantaloop / Flip Fantasia" and "Chilli Hot" by US3. For some reason that acid jazz really gets me into a nice ellipticating groove.
