View Full Version : Need shoes for a navy dress

08-01-2005, 10:21 AM
I just picked up a navy dress to wear to my DS's baptism at the end of August, but I'm at a loss as to what color/kind of shoe to wear. I'm thinking maybe a simple sandal, but I don't know what color. Here's the dress:

Any ideas? Thanks!

ETA: The model is pictured wearing black heels, but I think that may be too dressy for this kind of event.

I love silver with navy, or a navy or navy/white shoe, but I can't get down with black or brown!!!

A silver strappy sandal/pump or ballet flat would be perfect!

I always wear silver or gray shoes with navy things!

I think the heels in the picture look nice and would be fine for a church christening...but if you are looking for other ideas, I would go with a medium or light brown, a silver, or...a really fun pink or something.

Here are a few:

I'm sure there are more at Nordstrom's but my computer is acting up today...

Love the dress btw. Very cute.

Silver would be pretty, but so would a soft gold fabric shoe. Or, you could go with a neutral shoe in a tan shade that compliments your skin tone. Some sassy red, lime green or hot pink sandals with a coordinating handbag would be cute also.

silver is very "in" right now and would look really nice with navy.

wow, I can't remember the last time I wore anything navy, so this was a toughie! ;)
I do like the way the black shoes look with the dress in that pic you posted. I also agree with the suggestions for a neutral (like tan) or metallic shoe.
(For some reason I don't like the idea of a bright color paired with navy, I don't think it would complement it)

J Crew has some cute metallic shoes:

IMO, any metallic shoe would look great.

I definitely agree that a metallic shoe would be a cute way to go. :)

Because my boss will be late today and I love to browse for shoes ... these are all from Nordstrom:

I would personally do something silver, but silver is a color I only feel comfortable buying in person (or online, after seeing it in person) b/c it can go very badly. That said, if you think the shoes in the pic are too dressy for your event, I would go for something w/ a low heel style like this:

I guess that tan would work, also (?), but like others I am not a personal fan of black and navy - though that shoe also comes in black.

Well these are $395 ;), but I like the style:

I probably wouldn't wear flats w/ that dress, but these are cute:

I'm not a big fan of white shoes, but these also come in beige, pink and black:

Oh, I really like these:

These come in silver:

Thanks everyone! I'm heading to Nordstrom this afternoon to look for some silver sandals! I didn't even think about a metallic shoe, but now I may have to buy a few pair b/c some of the ones posted here are too cute!
