Summary: Poor quality, horrible service
Comment: I bought this to replace my venerable super performing Samsung that after ten years, the hose cracked. I am sure it would have run for many more but the part was no longer available. Making matters worse, Samsung no longer builds vacuums.Unfortunately, I decided to replace it with this Panasonic. This product exudes cheap all over. It is very weak in the suction department. Don't get me wrong, it sucks big time in the quality department. Out of the box the on/off switch was intermittent. Sometimes it wouldn't turn on and sometimes it wouldn't turn off. I called Panasonic and they instructed me to drive it from Reno, NV, to Sacramento, CA, 120 miles or so away. I argued with them for several weeks and eventually they agreed to provide me a pre-paid UPS sticker although I had to pay to have it packed. Off it went on 11/21. Unfortunately, Panasonic is unaware of who services their junk and the service center refused it. As Panasonic issued the sticker it was then sent on to Virginia Beach, VA, some 3000 miles away. On 12/10 they called and said it was fixed. I learned today, 12/26, after numerous calls and long waits, it was still there.I hope it gets lost should they ever return it so I can buy from someone else.

Summary: same as kenmore at sears but more expensive
Comment: If I had done enough research before purchasing I'd buy the Kenmore at sears, this is exactly the same model as Kenmore (much lesser in price and has extra feature-performance indicator).
Functionally, this is a good canister vacuum. good suction, easy to move around and under furnitures, handy on/off control at thumb, most importanly, not as heavy to push around like my old upright. However, there is one part of the vacuum I don't think was well designed. The tab that holds the door to the bag chamber does not "click" when you close it, and I can easily open the door without even pulling the tab. That means the bag chamber could have lost suction power.
Luckily my in-law is very handy when comes to repair small appliance, so I decided to keep this machine. Otherwise, I might return this model and get a German made.

Summary: Big Disappointment
Comment: Although the Panasonic vacuums come highly rated by consumer magazines, this model would not shut off unless unplugged. I notice that another buyer commented on this same defect. Likewise, when I contacted the retailer, they directed me to Panasonic. Panasonic didn't have a repair facility in Ohio and required me to send my vacuum to a shop in Pennsylvania for repair. It has been weeks and I've heard nothing from the repair shop. Buy large or expensive items from a nearby store. Secondly, I've purchased similar vacuums from Kenmore(Sears) and I've had no problems with them.

Comment: I bought this product after reading some reviews here. It could not be turn off after the first time use. Called Panasonic support several times, after answered by operator, I was hung up several times. No return allowed. Every time, instead of listening to my issue, the service people of Panasonic (maybe from India) simply kept reading their policies to me repeatly.
I had to drive more than 20 miles to a retail service center for repair. The guy there told me I was not the only one had this problem. It turned out, a part was defect. When I came back after left my vacuum with them for a week, the guy fixed the vacuum showed me a part although still shining but broken.
The vacuum is heavy. After this experience, I will not recommend to buy this product. Why should paying full price to buy one it has part defect even it's brand new?

the two real experts, the ladies that keep the health department at bay, speak highly of it. in spanish. una respiradora muy buena.
