Summary: strong but blunt
Comment: My favorite letter opener vanished when we last moved house. I tried others but they were plastic and snapped in two and/or didn't work well. When I saw this model, I thought it might be the replacement I was looking for. While the rubbery handle provides a solid grip and the blade itself looks thick and strong, alas, the blade feels like a standard metal letter opener that has been thinly plated for matte texture and (ostensibly) strength. The result is a rather dull blade that pulls at and tears envelopes, rather than slices cleanly through them. My search for the ultimate sharp-yet-safe letter opener continues.
