Vornado heaters use vortex action technology to fully circulate the warm air throughout the room. This is unlike most space heaters that heat the space directly in front of the unit with the heat immediately rising to the ceiling. Summary: Expensive and safe, but not effective
Comment: For $100, I expected it to be twice as good as my other $50 space heaters. But it isn't. It puts out warm (not hot) air and seems to keep the temperature in my 20' x 20' living room at about 64°. If I'm lucky, the temperature will rise very slowly by one degree about every 30 minutes. But it never gets much past 64°.
I did find that if I blast the oven for a while and keep this heater on, the house gets to 68° and stays there. I guess the trick is that this type of heater doesn't really heat a room, but rather maintains the temperature of an already warm room.

Summary: USA made vortex heat
Comment: After dealing with cheap chinese made often unsafe heaters from big box stores, I selected this Vornado heater due to its features and the fact it is made in USA.
I find it heats very well and I like the idea that it will only run at a high enough level to maintain set temp. The dial selector is much easier to understand and use than the digital setup.
The fan is quiet on low, it bit louder on high. I notice the grill on this unit is tighter than on my ATVH unit and airflow seems a bit slower.
Due to the fact the element does not glow red, this heater should last a good long time. It is cool to touch, even at full blast.
For those who insist this unit heat their entire home, be advised it will comfortably heat a 245 sq ft area. I can run this unit in my living room of my townhouse down to about 19 deg outside and it will maintain 70 degrees temp.

Comment: I can't give this heater a good review. The heater I received never worked. The fan blew but the heater element did not work. The power indicator light did not work either. Maybe this was just a bad unit or was damaged during shipment. I asked for a refund.

Summary: Vornado is AMAZING
Comment: We bought this as a second heater for the upstairs room in our Cape Cod (it is 30X14 with an A-frame ceiling). But this thing is so amazing that we don't need the other heater! This one keeps the ENTIRE room warm and EVENLY heated. We are continually amazed at the job it does. It is also so very quiet!
We have been so happy with the purchase we bought another one for our sons room. (Also worthy of being mentioned is that the unit doesn't get hot so you don't have concerns about children getting burned!

Summary: Didn't do the job
Comment: I read through many reviews of the various vornado heaters and finally decided to purchase this heater. I thought it might help out in my cold living room.
I live in an old victorian. The living room has bay windows, a side window along with an adjoining dining room which has two windows. Both rooms measure about 12x30 and the ceilings are about 10'. Tough area to heat with all the windows.
Come home at 5:30 and anxiously set up the vornado in the living room, setting its temperature to 70 and lowering the gas heater to 62 degrees. The temperature outside is about 38 degrees.
7PM, an hour and a half later, the temperature outside has dropped to 32. The living room temp has risen about 3 degrees. 9PM, I'm putting on an extra sweater and the gas heater keeps kicking on as if the vornado doesn't exist. 10:00PM, I put on my throw blanket and the cat quickly dives under it with me.
At 10:30PM, five hours later, the water I'm drinking is as cold as if it came out of the refrigerator and by now BOTH cats are under the throw blanket with me. The temp outside is 30. I give up and turn off the vornado. Haul out my trusty $30, 400/800 watt quartz heater and turn it to the 800 watt setting.
11PM, gas heater has stopped turning on. I've taken off the throw blanket and have to move the quartz heater farther away because I'm too hot. One cat is laying in front of the heater, the other is laying on the other couch.
The vornado goes back to the store tomorrow. End of story.
