Durable plastic coffee filter cone with extension is the best method for making smooth, delicious coffee directly into a carafe or thermos. A portable pour over manual drip coffee maker (popularized by Melitta), the filter cone puts you in control. Put a paper cone filter in the cone, fill with ground coffee and pour over hot water. The extension makes it easy to brew right into your thermal carafe or thermos for transport or keeping hot for later use. Perfect for camping, boating and traveling.

Customer Rating: Summary: Fantastic bang for the buck Comment: Makes fantastic coffee, right into the thermos. Doesn't really tip over and you can use #4 cones. The #6 that it holds are just taller, but I haven't needed them for a 16 oz thermos. Fantastic price. Don't forget to stir the coffee after you add the water using a chopstick or another wooden utensil.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great for My Needs Comment: I bought a Zojirushi 1L carafe and was very happy with it. Then read in the instructions that there was an option to put a Manual Drip Filter Cone that could be used to make coffee directly into the carafe. I checked it out on Amazon but saw a lot of criticisms that gave me pause. But slowly I started checking them out one by one and found them either to be wrong or irrelevant. The most important criticisms that I saw was that the thing dripped too slowly and was structurally unbalanced.
One reviewer made the claim that their Melitta One cup cone had 4 holes and thus drained coffee quickly. I also own a Melitta one cup drip cone and found that (despite claims to the contrary) there is only one hole in that device and that did not prevent the Melitta one cup from making coffee in less 30 seconds
There was also a claim that Melitta's 10 cup Cone/Carafe would be better as it would be faster than this Manual Drip Coffee Cone. But I checked out the Melitta at a local Ace Hardware and again it only has one hole. Plus the thing is so wide it would be useless for the purpose of making coffee directly into my Zojirushi carafe.
So seeing how these two criticisms were factually inaccurate I bit the bullet and bought the cone and just received it two days ago. On initial inspection, I can see how someone could say it seems structurally unstable. But this thing has a small hollow cylinder jutting out from the bottom of the cone (not show in in the picture) through which coffee drains (like a typical funnel). And when you attach this cylinder into the narrow neck of a carafe or thermos it is absolutely rock solid. On my Zojirushi, it is as if they were made for each other. If you needed to use this make coffee for a cup or mug then you probably are better off with the Melitta one cup cone.
I ground my beans extra fine for cone filters and it took 3 minutes to make 1L of great coffee. I don't know that may be way too long for some people (as others did not post times I can't say) but it's perfectly fine for me. So at least for me the claim of being too slow was just not true.
I can't wait until the weekend. I usually percolate a pot of coffee and read the paper and some books to pass away the morning before exercising and doing household chores.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works fine, but badly designed. Comment: Functions fine as a coffee filter...just one problem: It only fits on containers witha VERY narrow mouth. This means that if you want to use a mug or glass, you need to hold the filter until the coffee has drained.
poor design.
Customer Rating: Summary: Perfect for 1-stop coffee lovers Comment: For those coffee lovers that are a bit slow-going before indulging in that 1st cup of coffee, this coffee-making method is pure, simple and fast. While boiling water in a copper pot (faster!) on the stove., you grind top quality beans & dump them into the #6 melitta filter cone. After throughly steeping the beans with HOT water, you take the thermos to your favorite comfy chair & you do not have to get up until 4 delicious cups of java are lovingly sipped from a china cup while reading the newspaper!! Perfect start of the day!! No endorsement, however, on the quality of the news in the paper!!
Customer Rating: Summary: must be modified Comment: I found that the product as shipped was not usable. Even with the largest grind available on my solis maesrto, it would not drip down anywhere fast enough. It seemed to stall about 3/4s of the way down. I solved this problem by drilling four more holes adjacent to the one supplied. Now it works fine.
