Fits under the kitchen sink quite well - and the snapping lid makes sure (along with the filter) that smells don't escape (and "critters" don't enter)! This is the ideal item--durable, perfect size and controls odors. It has an activated carbon filter on the top that collects odors. My filter has worked for 8 months and I just now need to replace it. Because it is open at the top, you get aerobic decomposition of the compost, the good kind, that doesn't produce many odors.
