Our exclusive Dynamic Articulation feature enables a drum sound to change its tonal content as it's played harder for truly realistic performances. The IED01 features 50 preset patterns with enough built-in rhythmic variations (with A, B and two Fill sections) for composing complete arrangements, and creating and saving your own customized patterns and songs. Comment: Why does iON audio still make this product? The only thing I would buy from these people from now on would be their Drum Rocker for Rock Band 2. It's worthless, and it was broken out of the box when I set it up for my son on Christmas Eve. His Christmas present was ruined, thanks to the poor quality of this drum set. We sent it back to the company, and we hope to get a full refund on this product. It looks like we will have to pony up and get a better quality drum set for my son. If you're thinking about buying this product, DON'T! My son is a beginner on the drums, and we will most likely end up buying a Simmons model electric drum instead. I honestly don't know how anyone can TRULY be satisfied with this limited drum set. Way to ruin another Christmas iON Audio. 0 out of 5 stars.

Summary: Multiple hits on the pedals made it unusable in my book
Comment: Background: I am a guitar player of about 33 years. I decided to try drums for the first time in my life. I didn't want to spend a fortune so I opted for this set despite the reviews. I am pleased that I am actually a half decent drummer! I guess the ability to keep time combined with the previous music knowledge helps.
The sound quality of this system is really pretty good and I was pleased for a few days.. Then the pedals started acting up. I would get two, three even four hits on the bass and hi hat occasionally! This made the unit unplayable to me. I did see a video on youtube where a guy put some capacitors in the pedals to cure the problem but I feel that you shouldn't have to work on a brand new product to make t useable, so back to Amazon it went. It would be great if Ion would just address this problem and raise the price accordingly to make this set usable.

Summary: Sucks, sucks, sucks.
Comment: These are a joke! You'd be better off to buy a $100 Yamaha drum pad. These drums are cheap, flimsy, sometimes the hit will sound, sometimes it won't. These will just frustrate you, save your money! I've already resold mine on ebay at a loss.

Summary: Price in-line with product
Comment: I looked over the reviews from 3 years back until now. Lots of complaints could be perpetrated by the customers themselves........
1. Plastic thumbscrews fall apart....seems that they have been replaced
by metal ones.
2. Drumbsticks broke after 10 minutes.......I am 6'5'', 300 lbs with a
36" waist and a third degree black belt. I beat on these drums everday
and have been for the last month.....nothing has broke.....must be
using those sticks to pry open dads liquor cabinet.
3. Drum pads drop down after continuous play.....the bracketry is plastic
however some ingenuity could prevail here....maybe spray some spray
adhesive to make it grip better, again I have no problem.
4. Complaint about he kick drum pedal echoing...has not happened to me
but there is a .pdf document for the adjustment of the pedals..maybe
has to do with that effect.
5. Complaints of the controller failing.......Have not had the problem.
6. Cheap construction.......I would rather pay $229.00 for this than a
four drum pad machine.......work with this, you can make adjustments
for your style (severity) of play.
Things I liked:
1. Sounds awesome over any of my amplifiers. I much prefer this to a
machine produced drum sound.
2. They don't give you what you don't want...i.e. a cheap drum throne
which wouldn't support me anyway...helps to keep cost down.
3. Nice range of programmable sounds to work with.
4. Add on options available that are not that expensive.
5. Not that hard to setup.....does take some time but not that much.
6. Little kids that come and visit love it.....so do some adults!
I say if you don't want to spend way too much and actually get a name brand (this is an Alesis brand) then I think this is the way to go. Customer service answered both times I called and were at least somewhat helpful. Carries a 1 year warranty also.

Summary: Absolutely Thrilled!
Comment: Bought this for my 10 year old grandson. I was willing to pay $500 for a real Ludwig drum set but we have no room for a real set and 'settled' for this. We could not be more satisfied. It is hooked into my son's fancy home theater system and it sounds just like a real drum set. Don't think twice, buy it for you or a loved one!
