I say its ok. It makes too many rules to make rice and to me the rice is watery. You can't put the rice in the rice maker pot and drain the rice before turning the rice maker on. you have to use their measure cup, use a separate bowl, use the measure inside the pot for water amount, the glass lid is heavy, slippery and hard to clean. I expected more simple instructions and better steamed rice.

Summary: Easy to use Rice cooker
Comment: I bought this to replace an older, smaller Salton model that worked well, but did not have replacement parts available when the silicone insert in the steam opening was lost. I wanted something to cook rice easily and larger quantities than the old one. Despite some negative reviews, this seemed to be the best choice for the price. I am not disappointed. I just add a little more liquid when cooking brown or a wild rice mixture we cook very often. No problems and the rice is just right. I'd recommend it without reservations. I also like the separate steaming basket included. A great addition!!

Comment: I just wanted to mention that I've owned this rice cooker for 17 years (yikes!), and it works exactly the same today as it did when new. No problems at all. I use it about once a month on average, sometimes much more. I usually only make 2 or 3 cups (pre-cooked) at once.
Just wanted to comment on its excellent reliability. I am not a 'foodie,' so can't discuss the finer points of the rice it makes. I just know that I like it. I only make white rice, and follow the directions (except I've never rinsed - didn't realize I was supposed to, and haven't noticed any problem with cooking or clean up or taste, so why bother).
FYI It's conceivable that the model number has changed since I bought it, but my 10 cup rice cooker looks exactly like this one - same lid, same controls, same steamer basket. (I paid about fifty dollars for it at Lechmere in 1991.)

Summary: A Must Buy
Comment: I could not be happier with my Zojirushi NHS-18 10-Cup Rice Cooker/Steamer & Warmer. You can't go wrong with this exceptional machine. You add rice (I use Jasmine), you add water, push the little lever down and about 15-20 minutes later you have tasty tasty rice. I use about a 2 cups of rice to 2 1/2 cups of water ratio. The cooker will actually turn from "Cooking" to "Keep-Warm" when the rice is done. No need to watch it; just let it do its thing. I haven't used the Steamer function as of yet, but I imagine it will be just as easy. The only down side is that it is a 10-Cup rice cooker and I doubt I'll ever use it to its full capacity. There are smaller Zojirushi models, but for the extra cash the Keep-Warm feature on this model makes it worth-while. If you want perfect rice every time get yourself a Zojirushi!

Summary: Bought this twice
Comment: I had this rice cooker before (for almost 10 years), but the pot got bent and wouldn't sit properly in the outer container, so the appliance kept popping over to the "keep warm" function and wouldn't cook. I looked at many other models before replacing it with the exact same model. It cooks my rice perfectly, every time. It's also easy to steam veggies, though I wish the capacity were a bit larger (family of 6). This new one does seem to spit a bit more fluid from the vent hole, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars rather than 5. All told, I'd buy it again if I had to.
