blue poop?

Ok, this is way TMI, but both yesterday and today, Noah had blue poop. Yesterday, just a little bit was blue, and today almost the whole thing was blue. (Sorry for the nasty topic, but I'm a little freaked out by this.) Is this something to worry about, or is it just from something he ate? Blue is a rather disturbing color for poop!

Hi Em,

Did he eat blueberries or something with blue food coloring? Pepto Bismal can also cause blue poop or a black tongue. I don't remember blue being one of the "scary" poop colors, but I would call your ped. just for your peace of mind. Let us know if you figure out what's causing it.

No blueberries. He's been having Blue's Clues fruit snacks now and again, but not enough that I would believe it to cause blue poop. (Especially since he's been eating them before the last few days, and no blue poop.)

are the Blue's Clues snacks actually blue in color? If they are, my guess it is from those.

DD ate 2-3 small cookies at Christmas that had green food coloring (christmas tree shaped) and her poop was really green the next day. I wonder if the coloring concentrates when digested or doesn't get absorbed by the body so the poop seems a lot more colorful than you'd think it would be. KWIM?

The only time we've experienced this has been when DD ate some 'Crayola' brand cookies. They are refrigerated tubs of dough (purchased via a school fundraiser for a friend's child) and they come in primary colors. And, uh, the poop then comes in primary colors as well.

My DD had blue poop at Christmas time after we frosted cookies with frosting made from green food coloring. Of course she had to sample her creations - and then she left a colorful surprise in the toilet the next day.
