It depends on the benefit. If it's an ERISA plan (e.g., 401(k) or defined benefit plan), there may be federal regulations regarding notifications and changes. Other benefits plans may only be subject to the requirements of the specific plan or contract between the company and the provider.

I have a question about following up on a resume. I submitted my CL and resume for a PT position that I had once before. I was on very good terms there and the job was temporary. Unfortunetely everyone who I worked with is gone now so no one is there to vouch for me. Anyway, I saw they are hiring again so I emailed and brought my resume in (probably overkill, I know! I think the email went to a different person/office location than I brought it to though). I got the name and phone number of the person who they said I should talk to about it, should I call and confirm if she received the resume? I know she did but how should I follow up on this or should I at all? I *really* want the job because I loved it there and it is perfect for me! Thanks for your advice.

I'd say wait 5-7 days, then follow up.

Yes. I'd send an email just confirming she received your resume and that you are former employee. Anyone internal who can put in a good word for you?

No because everyone I worked with is gone. The office in our town closed so everyone went to another agency Now they reopened a new office back in our town. I put in my cover letter that I worked there before and it is in my resume. I would like to call and talk to her in person. I think I will do that today but I am nervous!

Oh well I called and she said she didn't think they were doing anymore interviews. So I said if they decide to do anymore interviews that I held that position for them before and that I would love to return. She took my name to give to the lady in charge in case she decides to interview me. I'm crossing my fingers but not hopeful. It would have been perfect for me, too! Oh well...poo...
