Sounds about right to me too. We paid more for the first clean.. I think it was $175.

For maintenance we pay $90/every other week for the basic stuff-- no laundry, making beds, etc. There are 2 ladies and they usually take 3 hours to vacuum, dust, clean bathrooms, kitchen counters/sink/wood floors. Occasionally they'll do the wood blinds/window seals & the front door. We're in Southern Calif. w/ 3,300 sq feet, 4 bathrooms & 5 bedrooms... I think we're getting a good deal.

That sounds right to me... we paid ~$180 for our first clean ($25 per hour per person... they had 3 cleaners and were there just over an hour). On an ongoing basis we pay $90 every 2 weeks (our house is only 1 bath/3 bedroom ~2200sq.ft but we are 15 minutes outside of town)

Uggg, this thread makes me so jealous. We hired someone to clean our house after we moved out and prior to it going on the market...it was totally empty and in pretty good shape if I do say so myself, and it was $350. Our house was a little big at 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and 3400sf.

If they had done something special I would understnad the cost but I know they didn't do windows because we just paid someone to do the windows last week.

We pay our cleaning service $85 a week for 4000 sf, 4 beds, 3.5 baths. Includes vacuum, wash wood floors (on hands and knees), dust and polish furniture, dust baseboards, kitchen surfaces (including inside of microwave and outside of cabinets), bathrooms, dust wood blinds, empty garbage etc. They would change bed linens but I don't want them to. They come once a week, 3 girls for about an hour and a half to an hour and 3/4. They are a deal, I have considered changing my service on several occasions and any other company I have gotten a quote from has been at least $125. I don't LOVE my service, they do a good but not a great job. However, it is hard to justify paying at least $30 more a week for another service when I didn't notice any better performance when I did trial runs.

kemorr, I feel the same way. I know mine is super cheap and they do an ok job. But I haven't found anyone do enough of a better job to pay twice as much. When I need a super deep clean, I just take a weekend and do it myself.

I feel the same way about my cleaner - she is fine but not spectacular, but she's so cheap! Plus she's so nice I would feel bad getting rid of her. =/ I'm actually about to pay another service to do a big "deep clean" for me because I am a crazy pregnant person and I can't stand xyz little things any more but I'm too tired to do them. My husband thinks it's insane, but that's ok!

It costs us about $100 for 4-4.5 hour of cleaning. I only do this once a month though. We have someone we really like/trust and she does an excellant job (much better than I am willing to do). I know my neighbors have had a hard time with cleaners who "pad" their hours. Like some of you, my neighbor thought the cleaning was okay, but certainly not 4 hours worth - and she was right - it was about 2.
