We just got back from a trip to Vegas last weekend so I thought I would post the highlights. We had an amazing (and quick!) trip, probably our best ever and we average going there about once a year!!! Of course, it helps that we were leaving 2 kids behind now with the grandparents and we came home about $700 richer.
We booked through Southwest Vacations and other having to check in at the airport with paper tickets (so weird!), all was awesome with travel. Our hotel was the Bellagio which is our favorite. It was very cheap and Vegas is certainly much less crowded than in year's past and there are plenty of deal to be had! We paid a little less than $1000 for 2 flights from the East Coast and 2 nights at the Bellagio, I thought that was a super great deal. We have paid much more in the past.
We checked in at the Bellagio on Saturday and headed straight to the Mirage for
BLT Burger and to pick up our show tickets. BLT was really yummy and just what we needed since we were starving after the long flight. That night we got all gussied up and headed to see
LOVE which was a really great show, very upbeat. We've now seen O, Mystere, and LOVE so we are probably "cirque-d" out for the next 5-10 years. After the show we hopped a cab to the Mirage and had dinner at
L'Atelier Joel Robuchon.
My thoughts on
L'Atelier are unfortunately mixed. First of all, they were packed and we were not seated for about 30 minutes after our reservation time and the hostess seemed very flustered and just not that nice. We were finally seated and had awesome seats right in the middle of the "bar" area. Our server was amazing, very thorough in his descriptions, super duper professional and all around fantastic. I ordered the Prix Fixe $75 special which is really an amazing value for the restaurant. My husband ordered 3 of the "small plates". I definitely very much *liked* all of my courses but I didn't *love* them. The best thing I had was the Scottish Salmon. Also, at one point a different server brought out one of our courses and he didn't really say anything or explain anything and he actually brought out the wrong lobster dish for my husband. Our server quickly saw this and remedied the situation and comped that dish. It was cool to sit there and see the cooks preparing the food and the detail to which they went to with each and every dish.
Overall, it was a really nice experience but I likely wouldn't rush back. It is probably the 2nd most expensive meal we've ever had together but I don't it was our 2nd best dining experience.

Still glad we went but not likely to repeat.
On Sunday I went downstairs super early and snagged 2 awesome leather recliners in the Bellagio Sports Book. I got the back row, best seats in the house, woohoo! We go every year during the NFL season and it's so fun. My hubby eventually joined me and we were there all day until the afternoon. It was a blast, the Saints/Miami game had the whole place going bananas! We had
Noodles at the Bellagio for dinner and it was really good. We hit the tables after that and did awesome at craps and blackjack. The flight home on Monday morning was easy, no issues except we couldn't sit together again due to full flights.
Overall it was a super fun trip and it was sooooooooooo amazing to have time with just my hubby and no kids. My husband also finally gave me my "push present" (our second son was born in July) which is a diamond necklace. If you are thinking about going to Vegas now, GO, they seem to be hurting for tourists so the deals are great and things aren't that packed!!
