Default Khaki walls - trend or here to stay?

It seems khaki walls (or some version of tan/beige/brown) is incredibly popular right now. How long's this trend this hot? Any guesses as to how long it'll last?

I'm planning on painting my living room/dining room combo some version of this on Columbus Day (my next holiday from work). It seems I hit all the trends last, so I would say it'll last until around then.

We have Khaki walls in several rooms - I love them! No matter what the decor the walls always match I hope it's not a fad.

I think you can make a neutral wall like this work through several trends, just by adding accessories. Like a khaki wall could do the "brown and blue" that was big last season with a few turquoise throw pillows. When lime green or yellow gets hot again, just switch pillows.

I'm not sure if it's a trend or not. I like it though - it gives you a nice neutral color for the walls without it being white. Just my opinion though!

I used to not like Khaki walls until we moved into our apartment. The previous tenant painted the whole place this almost olive toned khaki (very subtle though) and a lighter shade of that with white trim.

The living room is the lighter shade, the dining room has a white chair rail and underneath is the darker color, lighter on top. The bedrooms are the darker shade and the kitchen is a nice, clean stark white. Looks great with wood floors.

I love it. Very warm feeling, but also calming like a cool tone. Our fabrics are mostly blue and white/cream and we have darker wood antiques mixed with black furniture. It all just "works" in a way I never imagined.

Well, considering I'm very lazy and don't have the funds to have painters come in to change our walls that often, our LR/DR/kitchen walls will be staying this color for quite some time! I love the color.
May those who love us love us. And for those who don't, may God turn their hearts. And if not, may God turn their ankles so we'll know them by their limping.

    Ditto that.

Right now my LR/DR?kitchen is painted in a "Heavy Cream" color that is a light khaki. I like that I can play around with the accent colors to change the feel of the room.

Because it is so neutral, even if it is a fad and isn't as popular later on, I don't think it will be unacceptable in the future. If you still have khaki walls after the trend passes, it will be no big deal.

On the other hand, the yellow and green flowered wallpaper the previous owners put up in 1974... that was a "bad" fad
