Default Cold while pregnant -- what to take?

I have a nice little head cold. Waiting to hear back from the doc to see what I can take.

Anyone have any suggestions? Sore throat - running, stuffy nose. I've been gargling with salt water (per What to Expect) but wondered if your doc said anything OTC was safe.

    TIA!

I was also told only Sudafed. I had a horrible cold for about a month in my first trimester and felt like I wanted to die - and there was nothing I could do - so sorry!

Thanks guys -- let's hope she OK's Sudafed for me. I've had a rough go of getting PG so she's very conservative about everything for me.

And cr8zy4af: I can't believe you are due so soon--feels like yesterday you got PG!!! WOW !

I was also told you can take nasal sprays, like Afrin. Good luck. Hope the cold subsides soon.

Everyone has a different level of comfort with taking drugs (as with most things in pregnancy). I personally would just tough it out. My feeling was if it was just for my comfort then I didn't take it. But when I had an infection or something that would not clear up with out treatment I took something.

    Congrats on your pregnancy.

Oh, I hope you feel better soon!

My doc said okay to the following for colds (and I quote; the office gave a packet of written advice/instructions):

"Sudafed, Tylenol (including Tylenol Cold or Tylenol Allergy/Sinus), Benadryl, Chlortrimeton, and Guaifenesin cough syrups (e.g., Robitussin or Dimetap)."

Just no aspirin or ibuprofen or any cold drugs that contain either.

    Feel better!!!!

    *bumping*

I have been sick since Saturday, and it just seems to be getting worse and worse. I have my glucose test tomorrow afternoon, so I will see the doctor then, but I NEED SOME SLEEP! I AM GOING TO GO CRAZY IF I DON'T SLEEP TONIGHT.

What OTC drugs have you been told you can take? I am allergic to Sudafed, or I would have taken that a while ago.
