Default The Possession of Emily Rose

Will anyone be going to see this film? It looks really creepy to me, and since The Grudge had me up for days, I think I'll be skipping it (although part of me still wants to see it).

I just read the story the film is based on, and I feel horrible for what this girl (and her family) experienced and was put through. The story of course seems to have been "glammed up" by Hollywood, but hopefully they'll do a decent job of telling her story.

It looks good, but it looks like it will scare me too much so I probably won't see it.

Is it really based on a true story? I recently found out that Amityville Horror was totally fake, including the first film.

I'm way to chicken to watch that Emily show.

    Um....NOOOOOOO!

We actually just saw a commercial for it, and it was the first I'd seen of it. I immediately turned to mark and said, "uh uh."

I can handle a LOT of scary movies...blood and gore are fine. Demons and ghosts freak me out sooo much. The Sixth Sense was about the only ghost movie that didn't keep me up for days (and I still thought it was really freaky at times).

    So...NO!

Yes ssstephanie it is. The girl's name was actually Anneliese Michel and I found her story here. It is a creepy story (and also sad, as I can only imagine how this affected her and her family), but of course Hollywood has embellished it.

I hear you on that one Mrs_pell. I can take the ghost stuff, but the more creepy (rather than bloody) a film is (especially when it comes to "real"/fake stories on the devil or demons), the more it stays with me.

I can handle the blood and gore movies fine, but when it comes to demon-type movies; forget it. I watched The Exorcist one time only and that was years ago. To this day, I still have nightmares about it. Of course, DH wants to see it. I'll make him wait till it hits DVD and then I can leave the room if it gets bad. Which I'm sure it will. Don't know...there is something about demonic voices especially that absolutely terrify the crap out of me. Like whenever Linda Blair/aka Reagan/aka The Devil talked in the Exorcist while she was possessed.

The previews are scaring the shit out of me, so there's *no* freaking way I could ever watch this movie.

We might go see it but it's more likely that we'll wait for it to go to DVD and get it through Netflix - It sounds vaguely similar to another exorcism that happened in St Louis and was made into a movie that starred Timothy Dalton (I think). Although from what I remember, that exorcism didn't result in the death of the one who was "possessed".

That's exactly how I am, too. Scary is fine. Creepy, on the otherhand, isn't.
