I looked up the blue light before bed thing (b/c DH and I were arguing the merits of it previously) and it's pretty interesting. Basically, there's something different about PC/TV screen light that disrupts your body's production of melatonin which would normally be triggered by the sun going up/down. However, if you are used to it for your whole teen->adult life, you've probably overridden some of the natural effects of the melatonin production. Also, the act of being passive and just watching something and 'zoning out' could likely have more of a relaxing effect than attempting to wind down in your house with natural light (while you're looking at the pile of mail or laundry to fold, etc...)
Gotta go, it is 2:20 here and DS is NOT napping. Ugh, what are we going to do when naps don't happen!? Wah!
She'd be his wife and make him her husband 5/03Ds1 12/22/09...Ds2 8/31/12
Hello Kitty - Hailey only naps about once every two weeks, so count yourself blessed that this is only a once in a while thing with your DS!!! Not only does it take away my "me" time, but she also becomes a huge pain in the butt in the afternoon.
Omg, I don't accept no nap! Whenever in the future she tries to drop it, she is still going to have to have 1 hour of quiet time in her room. But for now she is still way into it - thankfully!
He napped for about 20 mins in the car (we were out with friends) and I can usually bring him in, except I rattled him and he was hungry. Fingers crossed he's actually been VERY well behaved. I agree - it's my me time to clean or do house projects or nap myself. I needed the latter desparately today and *may* have dozed on the couch while I let him watch water polo. :whistles innocently:

lol, HK! Oh, yes, that happens to me too. Isabella is absolutely not transferrable if she falls asleep in the car. And even if it is just for 5 minutes, she will not go back to sleep once we get home. One time she said she wanted to go back to sleep, so I put her in her crib and she just played in there for an hour. So I let her.
HK I have no problem with dozing while they are occupied with TV! I just make sure my doors are locked so they can't get out!
On Sunday Austin fell asleep in the car for 5 mins and he will usually go back to sleep when I bring him in, but not Sunday. He was awful by the time 5:00 came around. I had him asleep by 7:30 though....of course he kept waking up crying that night too, so I'm sure it was because he was over tired.
laura I'm jealous that you can put her in a crib still and she stays there!
We found a house here in Denver. We move in on the first. I'm so excited. I love my MIL, but she drives me a little nuts!! It will be so great to have our own place again!

This is Ella exactly. She *always* takes a nap withou fail, but she will NOT transfer so if she falls asleep for 5 minutes in the car, that's it!
