Since there's a recipe review, let's talk about the various projects we found on Pinterest and tried out.
I did the photo to canvas project. I did not use this method, however, I printed out a regular photo from WalMart, painted the edge of the canvas black and modge podge'd it. Turned out okay; I didn't see the "cool" factor about it. maybe if I had used tissue paper.... but that seems a bit much to me.
Also did this tie dyed shirts with Sharpies project with ODD. Ehh. I got thin sharpies, so maybe that was part of the problem. I had to use way more alchohol than what they called for and only certain colors bled. ODD had fun and it turned out okay, but not something I'd do again.
I did the Butterfly Canvas with DD2. It was a fun project, but expensive! $9 for the canvas (only so cheap because I had a coupon), $10 for the butterfly punch, $5 for watercolor paper, $1.50 for acrylic paint. Thankfully, we had watercolors and paint brushes, but it was more than I would typically spend for what was essentially a kid's craft.
I guess the good news is that the girls enjoyed the project so much that they want to make a pair of smaller canvases for Christmas presents for relatives. So the punch will be re-used anyway.
also tried these tissue paper trees - extremely cheap and easy. i stacked cups and glued them together for the cones. i didnt do the rosette one cos that was way too time consuming.
i just cleaned out my fabric stash two weeks ago and made this fabric wreath - very easy and inexpensive (since I had the fabric but you could always get fabric on sale)
Inspired by Pinterest, I made this birthday banner for my DS's 4th birthday party. It was a bit time consuming, but turned out super cute. I packed it up carefully so that we may even be able to use it next year, too.
Chalkboard wine glasses -- LOVED the way they turned out. I used regular chalkboard paint, not spray. I made a dozen and they look gorgeous. Barely used any chalkboard paint. Our guests are always blown away by them, and love writing their names. You can't put them in the dishwasher, but they are pretty awesome. http://www.alwaysorderdessert.com/20...halkboard.html
This is more "pinterest inspired". I made word searches in word (just did it in a table and hid the grid lines) with the names of people in our family and various other Christmas words, and printed a bunch of them out. Then we just circled the receiver's name in red and glued it onto plain green wrapping paper and stuck on silver bows. Looked awesome and was super easy. People kept them on their fridges for weeks. http://chloerobot.wordpress.com/2011...rapping-paper/
Pine Tree - the link to the scarf isn't working is it a blogspot one?
Re: the wine glasses - I've seen them so often and they look easy enough to do. Were they easy or kinda messy? also, could I "pass them off" as Christmas gifts? We are trying to get Christmas gifts done early this year. My girls always give their godparents gifts and most all godparents enjoy wine... would be a cute/easy/inexpensive gift. Is it 'gift worthy'?
The wine glasses would definitely work for Christmas presents! I use them just as regular wine glasses all the time because they look quite elegant with the black bottoms. Package them up nicely with a nice piece of chalk in a chalk holder and it would be great. Not very messy - I did them on the kitchen counter one day while DH was making dinner, AND I was drinking wine while I did it
