    Default Installing an Exterior Antenna

In my ongoing quest to get rid of cable, I am trying to figure out what type of contractor to hire for installing an exterior antenna. We've tried the interior antennas and we're not getting good reception. It seems that we can install one outside the house and connect it to our current coax, thereby wiring the whole house (though we might need an amplifier). I don't think we are comfortable enough to try to this ourselves and I want it done right. I've googled and found Mr. Antenna and another similar company, but they have no history with the Better Business Bureau or the Registrar of Contractors which makes me leary. I think I want someone who "knows" antennas and other components so they can help us select the best equipment for our needs, so I don't think a handyman is the right choice either. Any ideas?

I think I might start with electricians. My DH does handyman work and I'm pretty sure that if someone asked him to do something like that he would decline.

Hmmmm. My dad and DH just installed one on our house doing the same thing you want. My dad has installed a ton of directv dishes and old school antenna (before digital tv)and said it was a very similar process. DH was just around for moral support. The wire from the antenna comes in through the house just like the dish or cable wire would and then runs to your main coax junction. The previous owners had cable so we just ran the antenna wire through the house where the cable wire had once gone.

We haven't done this. But I think someone who calls himself "Mr. Antenna" is probably more than capable. I would probably call the places you've found and see.
