Really? I never compared them because I just get everything direct from apple, but when I first made the switch to apple, i was checking everything out at Best Buy and the employee there recommended I go through apple because their coverage is the best. Actually, his exact words were "I'll sell it to you if you really want to buy here but it sucks in comparison."
But like I said, I never bothered to compare them.
Yep, in fact, when I was getting on the waiting list for my iPad , the clerk and I were discussing it and he mentioned how he had recently shut a car door on his iPad. He brought it into the store and they gave him a brand new one.
*bumping this up* I just bought a new ipad (the newest, retina display) with the Black Friday sales. I'm trying to figure out the best insurance now. I bought it at Best Buy, so I can get their warranty - or I can get applecare +, or another third party - Worth Avenue Group for example, offers insurance - as opposed to just warranty - and there is Square Trade too.
I think Best Buy will replace once, but then the warranty is gone? (but I'm basing this on my initial googling).
So, is there a warranty you have and love? I do have applecare + on my phone - I'll need to check into that replacement option Laura mentioned!
Also, what case do you have and love for your ipad?
Thanks!

I don't have insurance for my iPad because I didn't find one that seemed cost effective based on probability but I use an iGuy as my cover and love it.
My parents have an iPad 2 and they have a Griffin Survivor case for it (I am obsessed with these covers for the phone or pad).
Instead of having "answers" on a math test, they should just call them "impressions," and if you got a different "impression," so what, can't we all be brothers?
I probably should say that I never take my iPad anywhere because the iGuy wouldn't be practical for that. I also have a smart cover that I no longer use. For DS's Kindle Fire I got a Gum Drop case which is nice and sturdy enough that I would consider it for the iPad as well.
Thanks for the input. My own paranoia led me to get AppleCare +. My kids are too young and I'm too much of a klutz . Trying out a Smart Cover from Apple, but going to Look around as we'll. still excited to have it!

Just got DH the newest one this weekend. We opted out of the protection plan. It's just us using them - no kids around to destroy either of them and we have fairly sturdy covers on both. I'm just not a fan of Apple products. They are hard, if not impossible to incorporate into actual business use and they're just not terribly user friendly. But DH likes something to surf the net on, so that's where we are.
