lil_geek~Thanks for the feed back on the capris. I was really leaning toward the darker ones but hadn't made my final decision yet.
Fenway~Thanks for sharing your natural look makeup routine. I have this eyeshadow palette. I was looking at maybe trying a smokey eye with the darker navy with a neutral base and navy eyeliner. If I used the gold it would just be on the inner corner. I'd keep my lips fairly close to their natural color. Thoughts? I want it to be fairly neutral but I do want my eyes to pop.

Women are angels, and when someone breaks our wings
we continue to fly...on broomsticks.
We are flexible like that.
Try it ahead of time and take a picture of yourself. I know it sounds funny, but sometimes I think what I see in the mirror and what I see in a pic is completely different.

At the beach life is different. Time doesn't move hour to hour, but mood to moment.
We live by the currents, plan by the tides and follow the sun.

I was going to suggest the same - we had family photos done outside last fall and I did a little exaggerated makeup and you can hardly tell I have any on in the photos!

Yes makeup gets washed out in photos, but at the same time you don't want it to be too heavy that you don't feel like yourself. Good idea to do some trial runs first.
Don't use anything shimmery, or it'd look oily in pictures.
I'm a professional portrait and wedding photographer by trade and my experience has been that new haircuts are a bad idea before pictures. Also, stay FAR away from any mineral based makeup product especially foundation (unless you especially like the kabuki look, or oily shiny look) I highly recommend Clinique's Black Honey lipstuff - it looks way dark in the tube but amazing on any complexion! That, some mascara and if needed, a wee bit of neutral or matte foundation should be fine especially if you dont normally wear makeup. I would also recommend NOT going to a local counter or Mary Kay person. Again, my experience has been that you will NOT like how you look and/or feel they made you up way too much. Most photographers do not do free reshoots if you're not happy with your pictures because of the way you look.
Also, if you want to PM me, I can send you a link to a shoot I did with a couple in a bookstore - might give you some ideas. (I dont think I can post it here since its my business site...)
