Especially if that person is revered in your community. It is definitely a worry that everyone will shoot the messenger.

Doesn't mean I don't think they are all pieces of shit, he just might be a shorter piece (still should have grabbed the boy out of the shower).

Not a surprise, that in the wake of this scandal, more information about the preferential treatment of football players at PSU has been going on under Paterno.

    I guess I just don't buy it.

I mean, fine, it's tough to "roll over" on your friend. I just don't see how anyone with a soul could look at the face of a rapist day in and day out and be too much of a wuss to tell. Unforgivable. You could be my very best friend in the whole world but the moment I see you RAPE A CHILD things change. You stop being my friend or being whatever I've built you up to be in my head. Reality should be a slap in the face. If people want to "kill the messenger" let them. At least you did the right thing.

It's not like he was in shock and waited a day. Or a month. This has been going on for YEARS, he knew it, and now he's talking to keep his ass out of prison. Or spend less time there...

I don't buy it either. I'm really surprised that anyone could defend McQueary. He witnessed an adult raping a child. I don't know how anyone could defend him, or anyone else who saw a grown man raping a child.

It's befuddling to me. As a mom, I've been sick to my stomach whenever this topic comes up. I know there is a small percentage of people who are worthless abusers, but I'd like to think that anyone who saw an adult raping a child would ensure that it stopped.

I'm just pretty disgusted and sickened.

For what it's worth, no one here is defending him. We're just trying to have some greater understanding of the situation. But everyone has said that he should have saved that boy.

McQueary disgusts me. From a story today:

    (source http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-...ss-for-details)

Under cross-examination, McQueary said he considered what he saw a crime but didn't call police because "it was delicate in nature."
So using that "logic" I assume if he saw his wife or mother being sexually assaulted, he wouldn't interrupt or call the police, either. Violence is too delicate in nature. What an absolute scumbag.

McQueary...said he believes that Sandusky was attacking the child with his hands around the boy's waist but said he wasn't 100 percent sure it was intercourse.
This makes it even worse. He's basically saying he wasn't sure if Sandusky was raping, killing, or physically assaulting the child so he just kept walking? Nice. Well, you see, I wasn't sure what sort of attack this was so I didn't want to intervene.

    He's as guilty as Sandusky.

I'm not arguing for Sandusky, but I think you're misinterpreting. The assault was just that, though the particulars were not clear (he didn't see if there was penetration. Now, he's a scumbag for that. But the delicate in nature, I understand his meaning. It was political, and because of who it was, there were things he felt he needed to consider.

Again, if he had just stopped its and beat the shit out of S, that would have solved a multitude of problems. But he didn't, and then was worried if anyone would believe him/if they would sacrifice him to cover up their beloved colleague/or if he would be otherwise silenced (fired, etc). It WAS delicate in nature, but if HIS higher-ups had done the right thing, he would have been considered right in following the chain of command. When they didn't, he was stuck. Yeah, a hard place to be-but the right thing was still clear.

Anyone who has worked in a high pressure or strongly political arena knows how hard it is to go against an icon of your establishment. But it was worth the risk to be a whistleblower. The boy comes first.

Sandusky is found guilty on 45 of 48 charges

The precise number of years he faces in prison is unclear, but legal experts say it should be enough to lock the 68-year-old away for life.
Good. This whole case made me sick. And now to hear he sexually abused one of his own sons.... there is a special place for people like him. IMO, hell is too good for him. I guess we'll see how long the appeals take.
