This is making me happy!!! I think this was the worst Law passed in the last 25 years and has done unaccountable damage to the minds of today's kids by enforcing "teach to the test". I hope my state is successful in this and that changes are felt by the time my kids enter school!!!

I don't know how they do it, but I'm glad they do!
Man I would have done a happy dance if our son's monthly tuition had been $398, but for three months, that is fantastic!

Ohh I 'm so happy to see my state of Florida on the list of states seeking waivers. Hopefully this isn't something that takes years to pass!
My oldest will be in 3rd grade next which is when they start taking the FCAT. Not looking forward to that.

    Two things:

    1. The tire pressure monitor light came on yesterday, so I filled the tires with air, and it's amazing how smooth and quiet my ride to work was! (I used to be good about checking my air pressure before my "long" 3 hr drives to college, but I've gotten out of that habit.)

    2. After our front door started to come apart 6 weeks ago, a new door with fancy glass is going in on Friday!

DD1 has a half-day of school today and I arranged for her friend to come over - while DD2 is at all-day preschool. Usually, DD1 has this friend over when DD2 is here, and today is the first day ever that they can play without being "bothered" by DD2. They are having a ball! Of course, they have a half-day off from school and what are they playing?! SCHOOL! They're quizzing each other on sentence flash cards - maybe that part should go in the "Amused" thread!

(ETA: And now that I rescheduled this friend to come over today instead of tomorrow, I can take DD1 to an "Art Adventures" program at the library tomorrow after school. The description is "Join us as we look at how a particular book or illustrator does their work. Then we'll make our very own art based on those illustrations!" We have had to miss all the art adventures over the summer because they were scheduled on my work/her camp days! Being able to take her to this makes me even happier.)

After a wonderful day of family fun, DH and the kids just left to spend the evening at the ILs. I get to go do the county builders new home tour in peace, enjoy a hot dinner with a good glass of wine, and then work on some projects I can never seem to get to. Perfect day today!
