Quick post before I head to bed:

Sleep- 8:30 (ish) to 6:00 (ish). 1 or 2 paci retrievals each night, but I haven't fed anyone before 5:30AM in weeks. Crossing fingers that it keeps up.

Naps- For a while, it seemed like they were settling into a two nap + catnap pattern, but the last few weeks has been pretty hit or miss. Usually down within 1.5 hours of waking in the morning for an hour or so, then another nap late morning, and a longer one in the afternoon. Times vary widely. This afternoon, they were completely off schedule from each other. J woke at 4:00 and G slept till 5:45, which meant he didn't go to bed till well after 9. Ugh.

Swaddling- Hardcore swaddle addicts. Probably won't attempt to break them of it until they're really rolling independently.

Teeth- Nope. DD1 didn't get any till almost 11 months, so I'd be surprised if these guys were anytime soon.

Solids- Nope. Will start around 6 months if they seem interested.

How much formula are your kiddos taking? The babies are still mainly BF, depending on my pumping output during the week and how much I can stash away on the weekends to get me through the week. They always get a formula bottle at night, though, so I can do bedtime with DD1. For their pumped bottles, they seem satisfied with 4 oz, but when it's formula, J usually takes 5oz, and G easily takes 6oz. He's a full 2 lbs heavier than her, so it makes sense he'd eat more, but I'm curious to know what's the "norm" at this age.

I'm back to work and barely keeping my head above water. 3 more weeks till summer!

sleep - We go from 7:30 or 8 to between 4:30-6. Sometimes I have to give him back his paci but h is learning to find it on his own. My twins were sleeping 12 hours at this point but since I am up really early anyway its not a big deal. I have found that when he rolls himself on his belly he sleeps the best

Swaddle - I stopped about a month ago as I couldn't get him to stay in it

Solids - we've been on rice cereal and oatmeal for a few weeks and he loves it! Tried applesauce and he hates that. Going to try to make some up this weekend (sweet potatoes, peas, etc) He has eczema as well and its gotten better since he started eating solids

Eating - not sure how much he eats at a time since I only BF him but when DH feeds him pumped milk I think he eats around 5 oz

naps - usually a good one in the morning and the afternoon is hit or miss

teeth - don't have any but I think he might be working on some

I love this stage. They are becoming more fun but you don't have the constant feeding when they were first born

hey, ladies! thought i'd pop in and chime in on what's going on with us.

sleep-- she'd been a really great sleeper and then out of the blue, month 4 totally sucked for night time sleep. she'd been going from 6/7P until at least 330A (sometimes 5A) and then again until around 7/8A. a few days after she hit 4 mos, she started waking up ALL THE TIME at night! and sometimes super early in the evening, like 9P, etc. it was worse than when she was a newborn! and then, just as suddenly as it started, it stopped. just a few days after she hit 5 mos, she very abruptly went back to her "old ways". these babies, they keep us guessing, right?!

naps- nap length is variable still....usually at least an hour, with an occasional 45 one thrown in. however, sometimes they're 2 hrs. oh, and as far as putting herself to sleep, C does almost every time. on occasion she will fall asleep while nursing if she's really tired, but more often than not, i just plop her in the crib wide awake and she puts herself to sleep.

teeth - none here, though i think the bottom 2 may be on their way? i've thought that for awhile now, so who knows?! both of my older DDs had teeth by now so i'd been kind of expecting them, but not yet.

swaddle- no swaddle...this was another surprise. my older DDs were both swaddled for 4/6 mos, but C very clearly did not like it. we stopped when she was about 6 weeks old and it improved her sleep. go figure.

eating - still nurses a lot during the day, which i don't mind. she's very quick and she sleeps so well at night, so i'd prefer this. no solids yet, though she is becoming VERY interested in our food and cups. i have given her a sippy cup of water a few times lately, which she's had a lot of fun with. she hasn't quite figured it out how to use it proficiently, but she gets the gist and is trying hard.

she is very happy and laid back and so much fun to be around. mel, i love this stage too...so cute and i love all of the vocalizations & different noises!

Is everyone doing solid food now? Everett is 5.5 months, and I've only fed him solid food twice! I swear everything is so much harder with two- I just don't have the time, and I forget because DD takes so much more attention.

No solids here. Camille is not even 5 months, so we will wait a bit. I still need to get her high chair. We threw out the old one because it was destroyed after 2 kids!

No solids here either. Carys is 5.5 mos, so we'll start soon. She seems VERY interested so I'm curious to see how it goes.

    Hi Ladies!

sleep - Hah, what sleep!? Charlie is a much tougher baby than Henry was, which has been a challenge for me, but I guess I was sort of expecting it. DS1 was Sooooooo easy. We're still up at least twice a night, last night was 4 times. The one major improvement is that when he was a very young baby, I'd be up for about an hour each time, which left me with very little sleep. Now, he goes back to sleep fairly easily. I wouldn't quite call them "dream feeds" but he goes back to sleep nursing, and I can transfer him back to the crib relatively easily. Sometimes I wonder if we're cheating the poor second child... DS1 coslept, which was unplanned, but happened because his crib was recalled several times (and it had done what it was being recalled for), and I stopped trusting it, but we didn't get around to buying a new one. Anyway, now DS2 has been in his crib since he was about 2.5 months, probably a week after he topped off the weight limit on the bassinet (bad mommy!).

eating - We're still just BFing, and it's going fairly well. We did have a bout of pain and a trip to the doc when we were in the US (which is acually still haunting me as the HR girl at work hadn't added him to my health coverage, so the refund was turned down when I submitted, now I'm going through a ton of paperwork to add him and back date it, argh!), but otherwise, it's been better. I have had the odd week where he gets really lazy with his latch and I get sore though. Luckily, I can usually get it corrected within a day or so, but it still sucks. We're off to FIL's for a week this weekend, and while I wanted to start solids last week, DH asked if I'd hold off until after the trip, which I agreed to. First, it's easier to travel if just nursing, lol. And second, DS1 was a few weeks into solids when we went to FIL's with him the first time, and we ended up in the ER. The doc there thought the full evening of projectile vomiting (seriously, I think he threw up nearly a dozen times, it was getting scary!) to his system still being a bit immature to adjust to the solids. At any rate, we were told to back off solids for a week or two and let him nurse as much as possible. So, we're a little gun-shy about another trip to the ER.

swaddle - this I need to get on. I think I'll give it a shot tonight. Maybe he'll adjust well. I've been using one very oversized swaddle blanket, and since he's strong and can get out, I'd tucked him into a sleep sack. But now he's rolling with the whole bundle still together, and yelling because it must be a bit scary to not have access to your arms in that position! If this week doesn't work, I'll be able to do it at FIL's... DH and DS1 are sharing one bedroom and DS2 will sleep with me in another, so I'll be able to just settle him and cosleep.

napping - DS2 has a bit of a schedule. He's up for the day around 8:00, and goes down with an hour, usually for 45 minutes to an hour. He might catnap again once or twice in the morning, then has a longer afternoon nap, but is a bit restless, so I usually put him in the swing for the first half hour or so, just long enough to empty and load the dishwasher, fluff the laundry around and make a cup of tea, then I cuddle him and catch up on the PVR while DS1 is napping. Then DS2 has at least one more evening nap, and goes down for the night anywhere from 9:00 to midnight. Usually I get to crawl into bed around 11:00, but it's rarely for very long.

Sorry about the novel, it's been a while since I was able to type with both hands, lol!

    twylla - ouch 4 times, that's a lot. I feel for you.

solids - just oatmeal and rice cereal so far. I tried applesauce but he hates it. I am going to make some bananas, peas and sweet potatoes this week and start with one. We just loves to eat and grabs for the bowl. But he still loves to nurse

My little guy will be 6 months old tomorrow. Where has the time gone? We have our WBV Thursday and I am interested to see where he is, he has really chunked up in the last 2 weeks. He rolls both ways, is sitting a little on his own, loves his saucer and is trying to hold the bottle on his own. 3 days in a row last week he slept for 11 hours straight but the last 2 he has been up at 2

Sleeping without a swaddle is working out pretty well. I guess I should say, it's working out as well as sleeping with a swaddle, so still not many Zzzs for me! Lol
