Yesterday was DD's snack day at preschool. I had purchased a healthy snack for the class but my kids ate them all earlier in the week. The only thing I had available to send in to cover her entire class was the fixings for s'mores. So I made up a quick batch of microwave smores and that was that.
I was quite amused that I got 3 emails last night from other moms asking how I made s'mores to send in to class because their kids loved them. I felt kind of silly typing in "put a graham cracker, chocolate piece and marshmallow in the microwave for a few seconds. Top with second graham cracker. To make a whole batch, just use a 13x9 and nuke for a minute."
Do people really not know how to make microwave s'mores?
It's never occurred to me either, boiler. We only do them in the summer when we're having a weiner roast. This whole microwave-in-a-13x9-pan thing may be a problem.

A few days ago when I picked DS up from school I noticed a metal pole that was erected near the playground. I asked DS what it was for (thinking maybe tether ball) and he replied that it was for "the festivus" they were going to have on Friday.
It turns out the pole is now decorated as a may pole for the Renaissance Festival they are having today but for the last few days DH and I were getting a good laugh imagining a bunch of kindergarteners airing their grievances.
Driving to work today, YDD would notice a car next to us and would yell "Race, momma! Go faster!" And periodically she'd notice we were losing and would yell "Faster momma!!"
She's quite the little instigator! I have a lead foot as it is; she's obviously my mini me.
It is Wednesday again and I am hanging out at our local spring fed water park. Last Wednesday I was complaining in the irritation thread about one annoying family. So this time instead of it being one family there is a whole freaking school here.
This time I have learned my lesson though and instead of complaining I am just being amused by it. Because clearly my complaining last week pissed off the water park gods. I don't want to know what I would find here next week if I complained again!
Yeah, sometimes you wonder why you don't just keep your mouth shut when it comes to tempting fate. I had a run-in with fate today too. DD has wanted a kitten for the past year, but our 12 yr old cat might not be thrilled with it. Though, I have to say, our cat has lately become quite tolerant to DD petting her when before she always ran away, even to the point of coming to her sometimes to be petted. Anyway, I have been telling DD I would talk about getting a kitten if we knew someone that had some (figuring even if I heard of some I could keep quiet about it). Well, DD asked about kittens again this morning, and I told her the same thing...we will talk about it if we know someone with a pregnant cat. Well, thanks to the Cat Gods, one of the Mom's at preschool brought a box of kittens for her kid share-and-tell at school today...and said they have 18 kittens to give away (apparently 2 very fertile farm cats got preg at the same time). Great. Thanks. Hard to put her off when it's raining kittens.
I guess it's time to talk to DH about it. I honestly would like to get one so we'll see. It is still 2-3 weeks until they can leave their Mom.
Good judgement comes from experience, and most of that comes from bad judgement. -From a bumper sticker I saw once
From Mother's Day actually-- DH is nothing if not consistent. He has gotten me the same exact Mother's Day card for 3 out of the last 4 years lol!

I'm torn between amusement and irritation. There is cat who likes to hang out in my yard and she's very bold and chases my dog who runs and hides behind me. I'm out on the deck and my 25-30 pound dog will not relax because he's worried about the cat who can't be more 10 pounds.
