    Default Shoes for step aerobics?

Anyone do step aerobics? I'm looking to buy new shoes. I've been wearing the same pair for several years, but because I only wear them to do aerobics, they don't really look dirty or old, so I never felt compelled to get new shoes. But lately, they've been feeling a little uncomfortable. So, I'm looking for recommendations for comfortable shoes for doing step aerobics. I'd like to stay under $100, too.

I have one pair of athletic shoes that I use for running and for step. They're WaveRiders by Mizuno. I love them! They're very light and have great support.

I have flat arches and plantar fasciitis (not a good combination... ) and I love my Ryka's:

I have New Balance 1006. I like them. I'm not sure if they're "for" step aerobics... but they seem to do okay for me -- and I (used to.. and should now.. but can't find the time for some reason) do step 3x/week. For some reason, nobody makes Aerobics shoes any more -- just cross-trainers and runners. I don't understand why that is. Perhaps Aerobics has gone out of fashion?

If you work out regularly, 'they say' that you should change your shoes out every 6 months. I tend to go 12 months with mine, and I am feelin' it at the end of 12 months.

Actually running shoes are not recommended for step. They don't offer the correct support and the treads can make certain steps harder. You should get either cross-trainers, aerobic or fitness shoes. It's very important that you have some sort of ankle support or you can easily twist your ankle if you aren't paying attention. I've got Nikes but I won't even bother looking for a pic of them online as I bought them 2 years ago.

tlew12778 ~ I was wondering about that myself. Thanks for the tip! It seems they make less and less aerobic-specific shoes these days, so it's good to hear that I can also look at cross-trainer and fitness shoes.

I ended up getting these shoes from www.zappos.com:
    Asics Gel-210 TR

I love my Asics running shoes (GT-2100), so I figured these should be pretty comfortable, too. And the reviews on zappos said they were good for aerobics. Zappos is great, btw, free shipping, free returns and pretty good prices.
