Joanna is a good dancer only in dances that don't require her to move her hips. I'm pretty sure my cousin's 2-year-old daughter could do a better job of executing the hip action required by the Latin dances. I think that Derek did lots of tricky choreography to try to minimize her flaws, for which he should get a little credit for being clever, but that doesn't make her a better dancer. I will say that I really enjoyed their futuristic paso doble, though. But also that I'm glad to not see Derek, Mark or Julianne in the finals (I'm also glad that Julianne is taking next season off as well, and that she broke up with Chuck Wicks).
I seem to be in the minority here, but I don't think that Kelly is that good a dancer, or that she's gotten that much better over the course of the season. I think she's clunky (not her size--her movements) and whiny and I'm not a fan. I do think she and Louis have a cute, sibling-like relationship, though. He seems very older-brother-ish to her.
Mya's the best dancer, but doesn't have tons of chemistry with Dmitry, nor does she appear to have much personality. Donny's a good dancer, but definitely the best performer, and he and Kym seem to really enjoy each other. I'm rooting for Donny, but would be okay with Mya winning, too.
I was so bummed that Kelly fell last night I know they were really trying to go all out for the freestyle. I kept trying to vote for her and the lines were busy. I hope that's a good sign.
Maybe it was just me, but the freestyles were still heavily "ballroom" themed. Not many crazy aspects (lifts, modern dance, etc) that I saw.
ITA. I did agree with Carrie Ann - Mya should have brought it more. Kelly was good but it was not clean. Donny I thought really went for it.

Bummer that Kelly fell! I read somewhere Louis said they put some kind of body glitter on her for the mega mix dance and it was really greasy. He claims he was worried that lift wouldn't work before they even danced. I still tried to vote for her and only got through twice. It was nice just to see her laugh and keep going. Earlier in the season that would have messed her up really badly. I also felt so bad for her when she had the wardrobe malfunction during the group dance. She was really holding her own until that point!
Mya's freestyle sucked! It reminded me of Maks and Mel's freestyle that cost them the win. Dmitri is not a good choreographer at all. I also didn't think they deserved three 9's. I really think that opened the door for Donny and Kelly. I also didn't love her Paso and couldn't believe the judges called her the queen of Paso. There have been many other superior pasos on the show!
Kim is smart. She choreographed a perfectly cheeseball routine for Donny, one that his fans will just gobble up. I wouldn't be surprised if his fans rabidly vote for him and he wins. Boo.
Overall, last night's freestyles were pretty lame.
Why do people kill people who kill people to show people that to kill people - is bad?
Oh that paso. I was so underwhelmed by it. I told DH that I thought Mel and Maks' was better by 10. And then Len said basically the same thing. I thought it was a rip-off of Mel's dance and did not do it justice.
