It is NOT meant as an attack on Betsy. I am friends with Betsy. If she considers this an attack then I wholeheartedly apologize to her. I was pointing out the complete ludicrousness of trying to compare the "you should be grateful" sentiment to offensive use of the term "retarded."
I am friends with Betsy, too. I wouldn't dare speak for her on her feelings here, but it certainly didn't read like the message of support that you intended to me, and I felt compelled to step in on behalf of my friend.
Apologies for the lack of clarity. I was an active participant in the "grateful" thread and had some outside discussions with others on it, so I suppose it may not have translated completely in this thread to those who didn't read the other one.

Weird, Wendy because I totally read everything as you being exasperated FOR OMB. I honestly don't see how that got lost in translation, especially if people were actually reading the thread.
Apologies for the lack of clarity. I was an active participant in the "grateful" thread and had some outside discussions with others on it, so I suppose it may not have translated completely in this thread to those who didn't read the other one.
And my apologies for misunderstanding your comment.
I also read the other thread in question, but you'll hopefully understand when I tell you that the viewpoints of different people sort of blur together when you're not getting much sleep at night and have a busy baby during the day.
Well, I could be wrong. Being told "you should be grateful" after a c-section may be comparable to misusing the term "retarded" around someone who has a child with special needs. I have neither experience.
And, again, I never, ever meant to be disparaging to Betsy. I was reacting so strongly because I felt it was getting out of control and really hurting someone.
