I'm doing a little project, and I'm wondering if you can help me out. I'd love to hear what words mean "home" to you. They can be descriptive or emotional. Anything you want.
Not sure if this is what you are looking for but I consider home as being where the people I love most are. We had to write bout our "home" in a English composition class I took a couple years ago. I remember one guy who was a surfer wrote that home to him was being in the water. I don't know if that helps you any.

Similar to that - I was away for business and someone asked if anyone phoned home. I said yes I called DH (also away on business) and my mom (who had DD).
Of course - the person asking was looking for a weather report for the city we live in!

klanae, I kinda get where the surfer dude is coming from. I'm a diver and water does feel like home to me. Floating in it or just losing myself in the underwater world during a scuba trip feels utterly, perfectly, completely like home. I have to remind myself to come up, and it always feels like a rude awakening!
But as far as our "land" home goes , I'd say:
warmth
safe
harmony
peace
laughter
love
family
calming
happy
ETA: On second thought, these words above don't mean "home" to me. Rather, "home" means these words, if that makes any sense. If you say "home", I think the list above. But what words make me think "home" if you say them?

"...human beings are not born once and for all on the day their mothers give birth to them, but life obliges them over and over again to give birth to themselves."
Home to me is my husband and cats. Being with them makes me feel like me. Happy, comfy, safe, calm (most of the time - ha), and all of the other nice things you equate with going home at the end of the day.
This thread makes me sad. I want to be at home right now!
Why do people kill people who kill people to show people that to kill people - is bad?
