Default Recipes for a hot toddy?

My family and I are all sick. And sick of being sick - going on day 7. coughing and hacking away.

I will try just about anything at this point for myself (not for my kids, of course.) DH goes back to work tomorrow and its just gonna be me with the kids - i'd like to stop coughing, any day now!!! we took DS to the doctor on Friday and they said it wasn't an infection - just to let it run its course. Doctors for adults here were still on vacation on Friday, so i haven't seen anyone yet myself.

any recipes out there for a medicinal toddy? websites with good recipes?

thanks, i don't drink that much usually, like 1 beer a month if that. so you can see that i really do want help getting better, not help getting intoxicated.

p.s. i detest the taste of whiskey!

ok, this is what i did:
    - hot water
    - tea bag (any old brand will do)
    - dash cinnamon
    - dash cloves
    - tablespoon honey
    - freshly squeezed lemon juice

optional: choice of spirit which is what makes this 'medicinal.' i used about 2 tablespoons of Cinnamon Schnapp's. i went out and bought a tiny bottle of it.

it tasted good. basically it was spiced lemon tea with honey. (does tea qualify as a 'toddy'?) we'll see if it helps though, LOL. i think i will go to the doctor now that its finally Monday and vacation is finally officially over.

Similar to Bridal Lace except we use whiskey as the "medicine"

Also, I've found the cloves can be a bit overpowering so use based on personal preference (though the strong aroma can be nice when you're stuffed up and can't smell anything that's not that strong!)

i did strain out the cloves, at least. i didn't like the chunks in my mouth, they aren't terribly palatable. or edible. whatever.

i guess it might be a coincidence. but i did feel 90% better on Monday after my Sunday toddy (well, i had 2.) LOL. my coughing was almost gone, and i had a burst of energy and actually swept and scrubbed the floors. if it was coincidence, well, whatever, but i am glad i did it.

must've been the vitamin C in the lemon.
