JLRenheos I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma! Prayers to you and your family and her as well -I hope that you are all able to find some comfort in each other during this time.
thanks, sea & mcg. 6 straight days for radiation Or 6 wks. of chemo is too heavy a treatment for her. She's weak as is, so I do believe she has decided not to do any treatment. The treatment alone, would be too much for her body to handle as she has both, stage 3 lung cancer/cirrhosis of liver. She's not afraid of dying. Heck, my grandmother went ziplining 2yrs. ago in the mountains @ 81yrs.!-(something she said she always wanted to do on her bucket list!) As my aunt would tell me, she's strong as steel & stubborn as a mule. She has a great connection w/her faith & her character has never waivered. I had forgotten, but my Grandmother has kept stacks & stacks of notebooks/journals. She's journaled everyday, for years-20+ yrs.. It'll be neat to go back & reminisce one day.
Sounds like my grandma has a week to live. It's hard to get a real "answer" through this. I pray that she finally gets the peace she's been seeking for about 20 years.
In 1993 my grandpa died and she was never really the same. She has been ready to die since then. Her body was okay (she was 70 then) and her mind wasn't too bad. She had many strokes but always bounced back. Stubborn as always that woman was/is. About two years ago the doctors told my parents and aunt she had about 6 weeks to live. She obviously outlived that prediction.
But, she has bad dementia and her body is wearing down. She's broken so many bones it's hard to even count. The doctors couldn't reset her broken arm because of an infection. So, they released her to the nursing home and hospice.
I think we're all prepared for her to go (but I still get a bit sad). She's been ready to go; you can just see it in her eyes... I pray that she goes comfortably and finds my grandpa in heaven.
chimi: How is your grandma doing? Praying for all of you to have peace and comfort.
If you could keep three people I work with in your prayers. One woman who is PG and due next month was in a car accident a few weeks ago and her and her unborn baby are okay. However, her three-year-old was also in the car is facing a very up-hill battle, has no feeling from the neck down. It's breaking my heart.
Another coworker's DD was air-lifted to a bigger hospital last night after bouncing off a trampoline and landing on the concrete. There are not a lot of details, but the father will not be back for about 4-5 weeks, so that can't be great.
And another coworker's wife delivered a baby two months ago and has been paralyzed from the waist down since. She had extensive nerve damage and will probably get better, but it will take a long time. Until them, she cannot walk or care for herself, and they have the newborn, plus a 20-month old. She is a SAHM so it's a pretty huge adjustment for them.
Requesting prayers for my best friends mom (who also happens to be my moms best friend for over 50 years), who has been battling cancer for the past four years. Found out yesterday additional treatments are not an option, the doc said 2-3 months. BFF is pregnant and so is her SIL - so depressing to think her mom will never meet these babies.
