We're building a house on a little island, where the new trend is to name your house, like boaters name their boats. The named houses usually have a decorative nautical sign displaying the house name and sometimes address. Some of the names are:
Serendipity
Island Time
Fish Tales
Ocean View
I’d like the name to say something about us, the house, or the history of the house, so here are some facts:
We purchased and demolished my family's old run down summer cottage, and that is the land we are building on.
I grew up summering at the old cottage
I love to fish, and DH and I both love the beach and water activities
DH and I are building this house ourselves, with the help of our friends and family. Pretty much all of our close friends and family have put in a day working with us.
We have private beach rights and a view of the ocean.
You can hear the waves on a quiet day
The island is approx 4 square miles with half of that protected conservation land.
Our neighborhood is called Cherrystone
Any ideas??

At the beach life is different. Time doesn't move hour to hour, but mood to moment.
We live by the currents, plan by the tides and follow the sun.
I'm also not so great at naming things, but something abou the land's history and location made me think Wave's Echo (or Waves Echo). The fact that it's the second house on the land, you can hear the sea both sound like strong features in how you think of your new house.
I have no suggestions, just wanted to say that I am envious. I am land locked and the idea of having a home with an ocean view sounds splendid. Congratulations!
