    Default First AF after birth

For those of you who have had AF return, was the bleeding more than normal? I started bleeding on Sunday morning. It has definitely been WAY more than my normal cycles. I even had to wash the sheets earlier as I had a big spot of blood on them. Last week I started having brown discharge but nothing that required a pad or pantyliner. I was so hoping that I would have more of a break before it returned.

Mine was a heavier than normal period. Not sure why that would be--perhaps because my endometrium had been building up for longer than a typical cycle? (My first PP AF came at 8 months PP.)

Mine came at 7 weeks pp and seemed light - although I've heard it's usually heavy.

Thanks for the responses ladies. What I'm having now is definitely MUCH heavier than my usual AF. I already have to go get some more stuff for tonight as I don't have enough. I go tomorrow to see my OB. I called earlier today to talk to the nurse. She said it was probably best I come in to be seen before next week (my 6-week PP checkup).

I actually tried to post earlier, but had a toddler biting my ankles preventing me from typing coherently.

What I was going to say is that bleeding within 6-8 weeks of giving birth *may* be considered still a part of that postnatal bleeding, and may not be a return to regular cycles yet. (Only time will tell.)

I was going to say the same thing as Marisa. What made me wonder if it's still part of your postnatal bleeding was your comment that you had brown discharge last week. Brown is often the color of "old" blood whereas "new" blood is typically red.

I bet it isn't AF. My pp bleeding stopped and picked back up again--how many weeks PP are you?

Mine came just before 3 months and was light.

Since you're only about 4 weeks PP I would guess that it's PP bleeding. Mine also tapered off and then came back heavy for a little bit.

I'm currently 5 weeks PP (well, 4 weeks and 6 days today, tomorrow will be 5 weeks). I had the lochia for the first two weeks and then it stopped. Last week it was brown and mixed with mucus. I knew that brown usually meant old blood, not new. And then Sunday it started all over again. I wondered if it was the lochia starting back up but wasn't sure if that was possible. I am doing more breast feeding now than I was in the last couple of weeks....maybe that has something to do with it.

    Thanks for the comments ladies.
