For those of you who had showers thrown for you, did you get the hostess a gift? If so, what did you decide on? I want to do something special for my MIL who really went above and beyond in my opinion but I am drawing a blank.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
My MIL, FSIL, and niece were all listed as the hostesses on the invitation. My mom was not listed, but she made the favors and handled the games. That being said, I decided to stick with the baby theme and gave my mom and MIL frames that say "I love my Grandma", FSIL a mug that said 'Aunt', and niece a frame that says 'Cousins' (our baby is her first cousin).
I had 2 very close friends throw me a shower. I made them each little baskets, they had candles, bath and body works travel size gel/lotion, picture frame, assorted special teas, and a bath sponge. Sort of a relexing basket. I only spent about $25.00 on each basket, and they loved it.
I am sure what ever you think of she will appreciate. Maybe a gift to her favorite resturant, picture frame or album (for pics of her new grandchild), or if she drinks wine, a nice bottle of wine.
My MIL and 2 SILs threw mine and I did something very simple for them, but it took a lot of hunting! I found them each a really nice book that I knew they would like. For MIL, a collection of stories/lyrics/games/poems/recipes/etc. for grandmothers and their grandchildren; SIL with an 18 month old, the "Girlfriend's Guide To Toddlers," and my other SIL (really into politics and history) some book my DH picked out and she apparently LOVES it. Simple but I think they all appreciated that I thought of them.

I had 3 showers- For the one that my best friends gave me, I did monogrammed tote bags from Lands End...I spent the most on them, because I am so close to them, and wanted to do something special but useful. They loved them!
For my work shower I gave Chili's gift cards
And for the one that my bible study class gave post baby-I made a set of misc cards for the hostesses.
I had two showers. The one that my girlfriends threw for me I gave them each a gift certificate to Burke Williams (day spa) and a candle. My mom's best friend threw me a welcome baby shower and I got her a gift certificate to Bloomingdale's.
Great thread! My mom and sisters are throwing my shower in October and I'm wracking my brain trying to figure out what to get them from the baby... keep the ideas coming!
