Tonight I was feeding my 1 year old daughter at the table in her high chair. Her grand parents and aunt were there eating with us. She was having a fabulous time laughing and getting all messy with her mash potatoes and then a spoon full of cool whip. Then all of the sudden she spits it all up! AH! She starts screaming and just has an awful time (who wouldn't right?) I just can't help feeling awful about her spitting up all her food. I know babies do this and she has done it before when eating mash potatoes. Does anyone have any advice on how I can get over this horrible feeling I have of guilt?

DS spit up peas once and started coughing and crying. I felt really bad for him and loved on him a lot but there's not much you can do. You shouldn't feel guilty, it happens.

Don't feel guilty. My kid quite frequently gags and pukes large amounts of solids. It's not like I'm giving her huge pieces or anything, but it takes time to learn to chew, move food to the back of the mouth and swallow without gagging. Don't stress it - totally normal and I bet your DC didn't even remember it happened 1/2 hr later.
