I just got the Evenflo Generations booster. We already have a Britax in my car and in the Grandparents car but we needed something for DH's car in case he needed to pick up or drop of in an emergency. I went with the booster (also has a 5-point harness) just because I figured it went to 100lbs and we could use well in the next few years.

Hmmm Mickey, I may have to look into that one!

Arden's not at the height limit of 40 inches yet for the comfort sport, but all of her height is in her torso she the straps are just not comfy for her anymore, it's so obvious.

Gotta suck it up and buy something!!

The reason being is that we have the Graco ComfortSport, and it seems we're getting to where it may be too small? We're at the top holes of the shoulder straps, and it just looks to me like we may have to "upgrade" at some point soon? I guess I imagined this convertible seat to last longer - it just seems like we haven't had it very long! DS is comfortable and isn't complaining, but I was curious.

Does anyone have recs on the next step up? My son will be 2 in 2 months and is about 26 lbs, maybe close to 31.5 - 32" tall.
You'll want something with a 5 point harness and a higher weight/height limit. Try the Evenflo Triumph (the new one with the 50 lb weight limit), the marathon, the apex 65, the britax regent (this one will last you the longest). There may be a few others that are escaping my sleep deprived mind right now.

At this age you DO NOT want your son in a booster. NOT safe. Barely safe at 4 years old, certainly not at 2.

Same for my son. Short little legs, long torso.
We'll be at the uncomfy stage very soon, I'm afraid.

I think we'll look at the Regent. OUCH on the price tag, but if it is going to last us a good while, we may do that.

And yes, I know he's too young/too small for a booster seat. I just didn't see a general carseat/booster thread for those of us with kids over a year old.

Exactly. Technically she has another 3.5 inches in it but there's no WAY that will work. I think we're getting the Regent for sure but they are sooo expensive. I know it's a long-term investment but it's the short-term pinch on the wallet, heh.

Keeping my eye out for any sort of a deal and when I find one, we'll buy it. I just don't like the other things I'm looking at, and I do love our Marathon.

One seat I see recommended fairly frequently is the Cosco Apex 65 - it harnesses to 65 lbs. and then becomes a booster. You do need to have a headrest behind the seat that goes as high as the child's head.

Albeebaby had it under the brand Safety 1st (it's the same seat) for around $80: http://www.albeebaby.com/sa1stsibiboc.html

For the most part, people just ask their toddler/booster questions in the other thread. There's info on the first page of that thread abotu boosters and higher weight limit seats.

If your child's shoulders are at the level of the highest shoulder strap slots, then it's time for a new seat, regardless of what the height limits of the seat are. Height limits are flexible (whereas weight limits are not) because some kids put all their height in their torso and others in their legs. A kid who's all leg is going to last much longer in the seat than a torso kid is.

If your kid is 2 or 3 and you've got the means, you might as well buy the regent. It'll last the longest, and keep him/her harnessed until s/he is mature enough for a booster. And sure, the price tag sucks, but keep in mind it's good for 6 years. If you divide it out, it's only 12 cents a day (assuming I did my math right). Not a lot to pay for safety. At this time of year, you're unlikely to find a deal on a regent, since the big britax sales (a yearly even) were about a month ago. BRU carries the regent now though, so you may be able to find a coupon.

Thanks all for the responses. We'll look into a new seat here soon.

That's really all I needed to know in the first place.

Still disappointed that you can't come around here and post about much of anything without getting a response or two with hints of snark hidden in them.

My DS is a couple months older than yours. We moved up to the the Evenflo Chase Deluxe. It goes up to 80lbs.
