Default Do you or your DH think that the car seat has to match your car?

My DH thinks that the car seat should match the car. If the car interior is gray, the car seat should be in the gray/black family. If the car interior is tan, the car seat should go with that. I don't even care.

While shopping for convertible car seats, I've heard three other men having a similar conversation with their wives. Is it just a guy thing? Or do you care, too?

I don't think it *must* match but would like it to. Exceptions would be of course for those cutie covers for girls. We have a grey interior and our carseat is grey as well. I think it would bug me if the seat was tan.

I never really gave DH a chance to voice his opinion b/c I researched and purchased our current carseat without his involvement. (He didn't mind and trusts my judgment.) But, I never really took matching into account either. Our carseat was discounted b/c the fabric was being discontinued, so I took what I could get. It's funny, though, b/c it does match our car. It's tan and we have tan seats.

ETA - I voted 'no, who cares?'

Our infant carseat is pink and our convertible carseat that we will use after DD gets bigger is purple and yellow. So not much chance of either of them matching our interiors. To be honest, it wasn't even a consideration of mine or DH's when we were shopping for them.

I don't know if it ever crossed dh's mind, but it did cross mine. I wasn't so worried aobut the interior, but the exterior. We have girls and a red car so I didn't want a pink seat though ultimately the brand/style of the seat was most important so if the only colors available were to clash i would have dealt with it. (ended up with a FPSV in red, and later an evenflo advanced in a blue striped pattern) So basically it doesn't have to match per say IMO, but just not clash.

My DH doesn't care, and neither do I. The most important thing was to find wash-friendly fabric and something which would hide the inevitable spills/cheerio crumbs better. I think this is a big deal for males because cars tend to be more important to them- clean, matching, waxed, etc.

Wow, I never really thought of it before. Looking at it now, our infant carseat didn't match, but it matched the stroller it strapped onto. Our convertible one does match. Not that it has ever mattered or anyone's noticed??

Our infant seat had a tan base with green, red, beige plaid, both DH's car and mine have gray seats. Our convertible is just the one we wanted didn't care that it matched, my mom picked it up for us and when she brought it to the house, it just happened to be the exact colors we wanted. This one is black body with a green/gray padding. So this does match our car by chance. We are looking at vans and I just personally want a dark seat instead of tan (had that color before) and again it doesn't matter to us if the seat matches or not. Our 2nd infant carseat is tan base with light green and little people (Windsor) on it so doesn't match the car either.

My DS carseat matches our car, however DD cat seat does not as I wanted a very girlie pattern. So, I guess my vote would be who cares if they don't match.

I can honestly say that it never crossed my mind.
