I'm still chugging along. Almost half way done with nursing school! I'm in an intense five week course (it's intended to be a 16 week, condensed into five, which means reading about 7-9 chapters per week. Not to mention paper work and assignments for the class.
I just finished my second year of law school. Spring semester wasn't so bad. Lots of good stuff... I was chosen as managing editor of my journal and my note was chosen for publication. I am clerking this summer and so far i love it.
I was all gung-ho about going to PSU to be a Speech Language Pathologist, but after checking into it more and realizing we were not going to be moving into Portland I decided it's just not realistic right now for me to pursue a Masters degree full time. So, I found a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant program that does everything online (if you can't go to the campus, which is an hour away from me) and have checked with a friend of mine that is an SLP and she said it is a great program, and she is personal friends with the woman who runs it and would recommend me to her for the program! I'm pretty excited because it is only 45 credits to get my AA (I already have all the generals done) and after my 100 clinical hours I can take the certification exam and start working. It gets my foot in the door, lets me "try on" the career to make sure it's what I really want to do and is realistic for me to finish. This is exactly what I need and I'm excited to get started this fall.

Does anyone use an iPad or Android tablet for their online classes? My laptop is kind of old and slow so I find I don't use it as much as I used too unless I'm going to be typing a lot. I love how quickly I can access our iPad, and with a keyboard case it would take the PITA out of typing with it. We have a wifi printer that works wireless and prints easily from the iPad. Just curious. I can get a new laptop, but this one still works fine for surfing and whatnot, it's just SO slow to boot up.

I have never taken an online class before and I haven't had a meeting with them yet to go over the specifics. This is the description from the college website (it is an actual community college with a campus and good reputation, but this program is specifically designed to be used by anyone in the state):
ETA: Not sure where all the * came from, they were not in the original text. Weird.
Typically*weekly*“lectures”*are posted on a specific day*of the week*(*Wednesday*for*example). The lecture, reading and assignment are
available that day*of each week*of the term. The student will have approximately*7 days to log in read the lecture, complete the reading assignment from*the text, complete any*class assignments*for the week, and participate in the online discussion for*the week*if applicable. There is no
specific time the student needs to be “ONLINE” or*on the website. The student can complete the coursework*and correspond in the discussion area 24/7.

So it is just correspondence and it doesn't sound like you will need to meet any special technical requirements. (When i did online classes I actually attended in-person lectures via video feed, so I needed special software.) You will spend a lot of hours reading and typing, so you just need to pick something that you are comfortable using for long hours.
It sounds like most online classes that I've taken. You will just need to log in and see. I will say that if you are viewing lectures online, depending upon the format, you may have trouble streaming them. I cannot stream some lectures from my itouch because they record them in a format that is not compatible with Mac. They actually put a note that it's not compatible with their system, even though nursing students are strongly encouraged to have an iTouch (for the drug guide app). A and B do not always connect when it comes to colleges, sort of how the English department teaches MLA and the rest of the college uses APA. It doesn't make sense, but it is what it is. Our software actually has a sandbox that new students can play in, so that might be something you could ask the college about, if they do, you'll be able to see what you can do with your iPad.
Tracy - the format of the online classes sounds like what I have used. There is usually a "lecture", a discussion board component, and some additional readings or videos to supplement the material. I could log on whenever, as long as I participated at least three days per week via the discussion board.
Michelle and Jenny - congrats on your progress!
I did end up submitting an application for second Master's/PhD in food studies. I spent a few hours touring the campus with the program director and meeting some current students. The director pretty much assured me that I would be admitted. I will most likely wait until spring to start as that will give me some additional time to look for scholarships and grants. If anyone has any advice on where to find scholarships or grants. please point those resources my way.
