    Default ISO Chew Cake/Cookies/Bars recipe

I'm seeking a recipe for something called Chew Cake, Chew Cookies, or Chew Bars (can't remember exactly what they're called). A co-worker brought them in to work last week and after we almost died from pleasure while eating them, she promised she would email the recipe before school let out. Well, she didn't and now we're out until mid-July. She gave us a run down of what was in them, but I only remember two items, white or yellow cake mix and cream cheese. Also, I know they were baked in a 13x9 pan and cut into bars after they cooled. They were a pale yellow with a slight crust (it was a gooey crust). I expected 'em to taste lemony because of the color, but they mostly just tasted like a less rich and more yummy (sweet) version of a cheese cake.

I googled each of the names I thought she used and did have some hits, but none were recognized as the recipe she used.

HELP! I can't go a whole summer without tasting that goodness!

Allrecipes has an ingredient search that's really helpful in situations like this. You can put in known ingredients and a keyword and it comes up with some suggestions - sounds like it could be Chewy Butter Cake.

Oooo! That sounds like it! THANK YOU!

    Chewy Butter Cake

    INGREDIENTS
1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
    1/2 cup margarine, softened
    3 eggs
    4 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
    4 cups confectioners' sugar
    DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
In a large bowl, combine cake mix, margarine, 1 egg and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Press into a 9x13 inch pan.
Using the same bowl, combine cream cheese, 2 eggs, 2 teaspoons vanilla and 4 cups confectioners' sugar. Mix together until smooth. Pour over cake mixture.
Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Cake will rise up around sides of pan and look fallen when done. Allow to cool.
