We are going for 4th of July and I received all my information from the forums on Tripadvisor.com. There are locals on there that will answer any questions you might have.
I'm not a local, but I've been many times.
Go to Ripley's Aquarium, and walk Broadway On The Beach. If you've never been to Hard Rock or Planet Hollywood go. It's neat to see those things. Captain George's buffet is a great place to eat! I don't eat seafood and still had plenty to eat. DH and his family eat seafood and they were in heaven! Nascar is fun for riding go-karts. There are TONS of Mini Golf places. We went to 3 in one night. It was fun.

eta: Barefoot Landing has some neat shops and places too.
My boss is leaving tonight with 5 of his friends and all of their motorcycles. He says that it started last friday and ends this saturday and it does get crazy.

Oh well. It should make for an interesting story, I suppose. So much for relaxing!
I was just there last week visiting my friend. I thankfully just missed bike week. She told me it gets really really crazy. There is tons of traffic everywhere! She also told me Ripley's acquarium isn't all that great. But Broadway at the Beach is definitely a must!
