I watched maybe 10 minutes of it one night after AI.
*shakes head* Just sad.
My DH is always commenting about how reality TV is leading to the downfall of civilization. I told him there was NO way he could watch this show and feel any better about people.
I had to stop watching when the adult got the following question wrong, Which country has the longest border with the US?
She was torn between Canada and Mexico (so she was at least right on which countries), but she picked Mexico. What really stinks is she was able to stay in the game, because her 5th grade buddy got the question right.
I only watched a little bit of it. They have way too many commercials. The whole show could take like 10 minutes without all of the commercials. But, I have to say, where do I sign up?? It would be the easiest million dollars I could ever win.
I have to say, they sure picked some not so smart people to be on the show. One lady didn't know what REM stood for. Another guy--who majored in history in college--couldn't answer who was the first president to be impeached.
To be fair, the only reason I knew the answer to the impeachment question was due to the Clinton scandal. I don't remember learning about it in school. Then again, I wasn't a history major. What alarmed me was when he didn't know during what month Columbus Day fell. I guess he's not a bank or government employee...
I'd say sign me up for this show, but knowing my luck, they would ask some off-the-wall thing that I don't know the answer to, then I'd look just as silly.
To be honest, some of the answers I'm hearing on there from the adults don't surprise me. Just watch "Jaywalking" on "The Tonight Show" sometime (do they still do that?). If you think this game show is scary...that makes these contestants look like geniuses. And the 5th-graders even more so.
DH and I enjoy that show. We try to answer the questions and see who's right. Kinda like playing the game. But we enjoy stuff like that. We like playing games shows!
I watched last night and it was sooooooo slow (and I'm not talking about the people). It just drags out with the contestants debating over their answers. I don't think I can continue watching it, I liked seeing what questions were asked but it just was boring to me.
Also I think unless you retain a lot of info in your head, it's hard to remember some of the stuff, keep in mind the kids are a lot closer to the info and may have just learned it recently vs the adults.
I watched it because Jeff Foxworthy bears a striking resemblance to my dad circa 1978, and he died when I was 15. It makes me smile. The show is mildly amusing.
It could have been better if they didn't take so much dang time between asking each question. Give them a time limit or something. I just wanted to see what questions were asked.
Admittedly I would have gotten some of the questions wrong - I did NOT know which president was the first to be impeached. I also would not have gotten the triangle question correct. I am pretty sure I knew all the rest though.
I kept yelling at the TV though. I am really hoping it's just nerves that get to these people when they get up there though
