My OB said we could try again right away. However her partner recommended waiting a month since getting pg right after a m/c has a greater chance of another m/c. FWIW, we went thru IF. My m/c was after 14 months of trying. I was so afraid it would take that long again, but DS was conceived 3 months later. Best of luck to you.

I miscarried at ~10 weeks in the beginning of Nov, 2005. We waited tp ttc until after my first post-mc period. I got pregnant again at the end of Dec and delivered my beautiful, healthy baby girl on 9-29-06.
DH and I m/c in July 03 and conceived our oldest boy 12 days later. Our due date was one month after the due date of the baby we lost. This pregnancy (number 3) happened the same way. We got pregnant November 06, lost that baby on Dec 13th 06. Dec 26th (that was the only date possible ) we conceived the baby that I am pregnant with now. I will be 10weeks tomorrow.
I'm going through my second miscarriage in 5 months, and the doctor told me to wait 6 weeks before trying again due to some disease that started with a T. That was only if my beta #'s hadn't gone down enough.
Does anyone know how long it normally takes for Beta's to go back to zero in a natural miscarriage? I was 6w4d when I miscarried this second time.

MCD - My doctor didn't even check to see if my beta #'s went down. I would assume though that if you are able to ovulate then your betas are probably down enough. When I m/c'd, the embryo stopped growing around 7w and I finally m/c'd naturally at around 12w.
As an update, since I'm the one that started this thread... DH and I didn't really try very hard that 1st cycle after m/c. Same with last cycle. I'm just starting on my 3rd cycle after m/c and not really feeling the urgency to be pg right now

Expecting a little boy in September!
Stefani -First of all, my sincere sympathy on your losses.
I found that the range of time it can take a woman's levels to go back to 0 varies quite a bit. It seems that many of them take about 2-4 weeks but depending on the individual and the circumstances, can be shorter or longer.
I know that probably doesn't help much but I did a lot of checking into it when I was going through my m/c and that's what I found.

MCD-I just want to say how sorry I am for your loss. Feel free to join us on the loss support thread in Family Planning Groups.
I just went through this 2 weeks ago. I didn't have my betas tested but my HCG was at 37 and the doc wants it at less than 5.
But due to other circumstances and things going on, we're waiting till June to TTC again.
Bump-
I had an ectopic pregnancy that naturally miscarried at 5 weeks. My doctor said to wait about 3 months, for emotional reasons mainly...but he also did mention that I have a higher risk of having another ectopic. I am wondering if anyone else had an ectopic and didnt wait the full 3 months. We did get pregnant on the first try, and Im hopeful that will happen again, but I have also read some stories of higher fertility right after a M/C so Im wondering if I should take advantage of that...
The baby was "abnormal" on 2 accounts...it was in the fallopian tube but it was not developing on its own either. I dont know if it will ever be easy to go through a miscarriage (meaning if we DO wait the 3 months) and the timing is good for us to try again soon...but I dont know what to do!

To be honest I would wait the 3 months. As hard as it is sometimes it is best to follow your doctor's advice on stuff like this. I have a cousin who had 3 ectopic pregnancies in a row. She did not wait the amount of time her doctor advised her to (which was also 3 months). She ended up losing her fallopian tube.
I don't think anyone can say for sure whether you will go on to have another ectopic pregnancy but I have read that once you have 1 ectopic pregnancy your risk increases.
