Default What did you wash before giving to your baby?

We will be washing clothes, bibs, blankets, etc. before the baby arrives.

Should we wash pacifiers and plastic/rubber chew toys beforehand also? OR just run them through the dishwasher without soap to sterilize them?

    What about stuffed toys?

Thanks in advance for sharing what you did!

I ran pacifiers etc through a regular load in the dishwasher.

    Washed all the washables.

Didn't do anything with the stuffed toys.

    Washed & Sterilized
    pacifiers
    pump parts
    bottles
    teething toys (later on)
    sippy cups (later on)
    feeding spoons/bowls (later on)

    Laundered
    clothes
    bedding
    gymini mat
    washable toys (dolly, etc)
    covers for swing and carseat

Cloth toys that were packaged so that they were not touched by random people in the store (all the Gymini toys, etc) were not washed. I try not to buy toys that can't be laundered or washed. I believe most items I listed have instructions to wash/sterilize/launder them before first use. The ones that don't really need to be washed, like the carseat & swing covers, I washed anyway because I like to remove the sizing and the plasticy smell from the packaging.

I washed clothes and blankets, and sterilized pacifiers and bottles. I don't wash toys. I also didn't wash carseat/bouncy seat/etc. covers that were on items we bought new. I did wash covers on things we got used (stroller, swing).

I wash everything that can be touched by people in stores. Everything I buy used gets laundered, wiped with clorox wipes and sprayed with clorox anywhere spray.

I boil all pacifiers and nipples and wash all clothes before he uses them.

I pretty much washed everything we bought for him. We cloroxed his stroller/carseat (it was a floor model) and boiled all bottles/pacifiers/ect...

I am pretty laid back about dirt and germs. Kids are going to put stuff in their mouths. The dog is going to lick the baby, no matter how careful I am. The pack and play has become a very expensive cat bed, not matter how much I shoo him out of it.

So far...I laundered in Tide Free with no Downey:
(As soon as we determine the baby is not allergic to regular Tide or pink Downey, that is what we are switching back to using.)
    • All clothes/bibs/blankets/cloth diapers/towels and washclothes
    • Boppy Cover (got it used)
    • Carters stuffed dolls that came with some blankets

I put the bottles/nipples/pacifiers through the dishwasher on a regular cycle with our dirty dishes. That's how they will get cleaned the rest of the time, so it doesn't make sense to me to do anything different with them now.

I didn't launder the stuffed animals or bouncy seat/swing/car seat/stroller pads or my slings. I want to keep them looking nice as long as possible. Honestly, it never occurred to me to clean the toys, especially since most are still in their packages anyway. I probably will just rinse the teethers since my guess is that they will hit the floor pretty frequently anyway. We'll cross that bridge when the time comes.

I washed all fabric items-clothes, blankets, bath items, seat to the swing, seat to the bouncer, Boppy covers, etc. Ran all bottles, pacifiers, etc. through the dishwasher. Did not wash stuffed animals. Now, I have to say that I can't remember the last time I washed something before I gave it to DS.
