DS has a horrible looking problem - every time he is put in his carseat his head bobbles! Most often, he just lays his head all the way over onto his shoulders, but at least 5 times during a ride his head bobs over his chest completely - like his chin touching his chest/belly. It doesn't seem to bother him, but it looks so painful! When I drive by myself, I'm scared I'll wreck from trying to push his head up in the backseat when I'm obviously in the front.
We bought one of these:
And it just doesn't help. Any suggestions? Dh wants to take a towel and put it under the end of the carseat to see if it's too reclined, but I don't know! Anyone???

It sounds like your infant seat is not reclined enough. It needs to be at 45 degrees. It could show as reclined with the bubble level on the seat and still not be at 45 degrees. I would have a CPS tech check it out- you can find one locally at seatcheck.org
We had the same problem, and to do two things... one, we reclined the seat a little further, but still within the bubble level range. Two, we got a different head support that included terrycloth covers to go over the seat belt shoulder straps. The covers are cushy and gave more support around the neck area. The combo of the two seemed to do the trick.

FYI, aftermarket items like head supports and shoulder straps that do not come with your carseat aren't recommended. They haven't been crash-tested with your seat, and the manufacturer does not advise their use.

This is what I was also going to post.
Now, the nurse that discharged us went to a FOUR day seminar on carseat installation and she said the same thing, in addition, she had us take the one out of our car seat and for now just use a receiving blanket. She said when DD is about 3-4 weeks it will work out much better.
I agree with the others though, if his neck is going forward, it's likely an angle problem.

our nurse did the same thing. if you have a graco snugride, the bottom of the base has three incline settings, i didnt realize it but ours was at the wrong setting (found out when we had it inspected). as others have recommended, i would have a technician look at it.
