We just bought a Frigidaire Refrigerator (18 cubic feet capacity). Just the basic unit with glass shelving. I LOVE it. We had a kenmore from 1986.....and I said "enough." and we bought the Frigidaire. Push for free delivery and removal. It's well worth it..
Washer/Dryer?? I don't have a clue b/c we have ones that our condo owners all share, so they're commercial grade.
We are in the process of buying this Whirlpool ED5SHAXML. Don't look at the price there; it's not real.
We chose this one for a couple of different reasons. It was highly rated in Consumer Reports. I liked it because it came in "Satina Stainless Look" -- looks like stainless steel, less expensive than real stainless, and magnets work on it. I also liked the "In-Door Ice" feature -- the ice bucket takes up a lot less room than in regular side-by-sides. B liked that the water filter was in the toe-kick rather than taking up room inside the fridge. It also seemed to have good organization inside.
I don't know much about Washer/Dryers (except that it's good to have them ), since have never had to buy one of those. I suggest starting at consumerreports.com. I bought an account there, and have found it very useful!
We bought the Frigidaire front-loading washer and dryer and a Kenmore top mount freezer set 3 years ago when we moved into our old house. I think our decision was largely influenced by the ratings in Consumer Reports, but I also looked at www.epinions.com to see real reviews by people who own the appliances. All 3 are still problem-free!
For those of you who've recently bought new appliances...
...
Where did you find the best deal? DH and I are currently shopping around for new appliances for our kitchen and also a washer and dryer when we move into our new condo. Where did you all find the best prices? So far we've noticed that Lowe's certainly has the best selection and possibly the best prices with their 10% off mover's coupon, but I was wondering if any of you ladies have had any luck finding appliances cheaper elsewhere?
We're not looking for expensive stainless steel appliances. But we would like them to be good quality. Any advice?
Lowe's and Home Depot have good prices and good sales. Sears is good too if you have a card and can get an extra percent off. Also, pay attention to the other ads out because most stores will price match if you find it cheaper.
If you can hold off a bit, remember that Labor Day sales are usually awesome.
May those who love us love us. And for those who don't, may God turn their hearts. And if not, may God turn their ankles so we'll know them by their limping.
We got a great deal at Sears, which allowed us to pay off the stove in 12 months with no interest. (not sure if I worded it correctly) So, in effect, we have an interest free loan for a year.
