Yep, it's great. I quit my full time job on Mar 17th and have been doing the part time gig ever since. I work for my mil, so she's pretty good about letting me come and go as needed. That said, I usually work 3-4 days/week, around 4 hours/day. I file insurance claims and handle billing for her - with the occassional odd ball task thrown into it. The best part is that we get along great, so it's not weird. Also, she's very excited about her next grandbaby to the point that she wants me to bring the baby to work. That's pretty nice, since I won't have to worry about child care (which wouldn't be worth the money working PT).
Before I went on my 2nd maternity leave, I worked 4 days per week, Monday to Wednesday and Saturdays.
When I go back this November, I'll be working Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays. I love being able to work part time, it allows me to keep my career going as well as being home some days with my kids.

I will be starting a part-time job in July. I'll be the director of a small non-profit. My official schedule will be in the office 1-5, but I will also have a lot of night and weekend activities. I'd say I'll probably average out to 30 hours/week.
I will be bringing my baby (due in November) to work with me following an 8-week maternity leave. I'll have a mother's helper from 3-5 four days a week in the office with me.
jennylou: It sounds like your parttime gig is very similar to what I'll be doing after my maternity leave. I'm not sure of the hours yet, but it will be around 20/week. I'll do some telecommuting and some taking the baby to the office, since I will be working for family. I really hope it works out!
I really want to work part time when the baby comes. I want to (ok, need to) still bring in a little money each month. Any tips on finding something part time? I am a teacher right now, but I'm willing to do just about anything.
I work PT, too. I work Wednesdays and Thursdays and some Friday mornings. I love working part-time. To me, it's the perfect balance to career and motherhood.
DallasLady: My sister was a teacher but she quit and now tutors practically full-time. She tutors high-schoolers and college students in Spanish. She also used to waitress, which she loved, and brought in the extra money that they needed. I don't know what your certification is in but perhaps you could tutor? Another idea is to work retail for a children's shop or maternity store. Both could be more family-friendly. Also, I've noticed several lunch places offering "soccer mom schedules" for those who want to work 11 am to 2 pm.
I was working part time until very recently. I was a receptionist at a car dealership. I worked 15 hours a week (2 evenings a week-3 hour shifts, and Saturday from 9-6). There was another evening and weekend receptionist so I always had the possibility of switching shifts, or working extra hours, and I usually covered stat holidays. The pay wasn't too bad for such an easy job.
